 Taking 10k from your IRA, is the same as paying 35 interest on a credit card and worse unless you have a Roth and you’re over 59 1/2

 No no no Stupid to borrow from your retirement to pay off debt, unless it is to stave off bankruptcy Yeah sell your stocks when they are down to pay off a simple heloc Josh this is terrible advise You will pay yourself back in after tax dollars, is that smart?

 The land mine that you may step on when borrowing from your 401k is that if you leave your job, the loan is due in 90/60 days If you don't have cash to pay it back, there are hefty fees and penalties You also are out of the market during the term of the loan Just beware you are crossing a mine field
