My husband and I have never purchased in the last three years: dishwasher detergent; laundry detergent; detangling spray for our daughter’s unruly hair (I make one with distilled water, a small amount of konjac root powder, and a few drops of oil that are good for your hairbetter than store bought); brown sugar (mix white sugar with a dab of molasses and stir until combined); gravy browning (using a spoon with a long handle, place a little bit of sugar in the spoon and hold over heat from your stove’s burner This will caramelize the sugar and you can them stir this right into your gravy, stew, etc); toilet cleaner (i mix together washing soda, baking soda, castile soap and extra fine grained pumice with water to make a paste It removes everything!); pimple drying lotion, I mix together some zinc oxide, kaolin clay, sublime sulphur, salicylic acid, calamine lotion and a tiny bit of camphor and finish with distilled waterthese lotions can be up to $30 and I make them from things I have at home and some things I purchased so I could keep making it myself; body scrub; salves; cold/flu syrup from my own echinacea and my own elderberries and elderflowers; lipbalms; body butters; charcoal toothpaste; shaving cream, we use hair conditioner which is better than any shaving cream; all household cleaners; mayo; ice-creaminstead of real ice-cream we make “banana ice-cream” from bananas that would have been thrown away due to over-ripeness and we add frozen strawberries, raspberries, anything and it’s absolutely delicious; chafe powder; diaper/ rash ointment; fabric softener; dryer sheets I’m sure I’m missing some but most of it is there Now I can’t see myself paying for those things ever This is a start anyways :)
