Great little vid Thanks Rob Question though, for the difference in price, is the HT-5 that much better than the HT-1 head and 1x12 cab?? Comment from : @JammoJay |
Keep em coming, can't get enough!! Comment from : @mmiller6873 |
The best is missing The BOSS Katana… Comment from : @mattesb4281 |

Loving this top review series! Comment from : @GR-yd7bv |
To all of these people asking why no katana, firstly, it was already mentioned in my top 10 amplifies all time, secondly, I was “slightly” involved in its conception Comment from : @RobChappers |
Why no Katana? I am actually looking for the best most versatile practice amp, without need for pedals 😂 Comment from : @Knut1978 |
The Peavey Classic 20s people mention are good Laney LC15 and LC30 are quite good And that Harley Benton Tube 15 is much better than it has any right to be Basically it's more or less an uglier Laney Cub, from a less 'respectable' brand name but it's 80 up there with a Blues Junior for a third the price Bassbreakers are nice Those older Egnator Rebel heads crop up for £250-300 second hand too But, for me, the best choice would be a second hand Vox AC15C1 You can get them cheap enough if you collect in person Loud, proud, normal and top boost real spring and trem - only lacking an FX loop, a bit heavy to carry and loud but lacking the attenuators some competitors like the Marshall Origin and Bassbreaker have Can always upgrade it to Blue Alnicos later New, Vox AC10 also really nice and you can snap them up for just under £400 if you shop around and time it right Also good is a second hand Marshall Origin 20 and one of those dirt cheap Harley Benton stock 1x12" cabs and upgrade the speaker to a Creamback later, or go all the way to a 2x12 or 4x12 if you have a sadistic streak A stereo pair of Vox Pathfinder 15Rs would be nice for a clean pedal platform And similarly, sometimes a Roland JC will come up second hand in this price range A second hand Ampeg Micro VR makes a nice loud clean pedal platform guitar head too, just upgrade the fan for a near silent Noctua one with the 24v/12v converter And again, use a cheap 1x12 or 2x12 - and upgrade the speakers later Comment from : @compucorder64 |
Chapman is BACK BABY Comment from : @MrBikboi |
How you gonna do a "top 10 affordable amps" list and NOT include at least one Boss Katana???? I call bullcrap on that Rob Comment from : @RyanWright |
For me, the $250 all tube Monoprice Stage Right 15 is a great sounding combo, and pedal platform Comment from : @bradconklin2878 |
Thank you Rob you are a good dude This was helpful Wishing you continued success wuth your musical career Comment from : @joeinterrante7873 |
I was lucky and my first amp was a Roland Cube 15x Paired with a Bronze series BC Rich Warlock Unlike most mutidecade guitarist I can’t be too jealous of today’s katanas and great starter guitars because my first rig was actually really good Comment from : @jeffleecust |
I have to ask why NO Boss Katana - I bought one of these amps after you recommended it on a Andertons video? Comment from : @Lez325 |
I just came here to be validated for my Bassbreaker amp purchase Comment from : @DorGreen1 |
Those Gamma amps are insane starter amps Plenty loud and really solid built-in sounds, plus a simple interface with no screens/menus to learn I used to teach lessons out of a Guitar Center and they were my go-to for use in lessons as well as my recommendation to anyone buying an amp on a budget (and no I was not and am not being paid by Guitar Center to recommend them) Comment from : @coreyblaisdell |
Nice GMG shirt WHOA !! ! Comment from : @Nektopoulo |
Why no Katanas? Why refuse to list the one that should’ve been top of this list? Doesn’t make sense Comment from : @johnoakleymusic |
Hey Rob Chapman I need an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray Can you help me out? Comment from : @LucasJRice |
Hey man, you’re getting scammers on your channel… Comment from : @stevelegget9392 |
Despite being a Marshall guy I have a feeling that your 'Top 10 Affordable Amplifiers Of The Next 15 Years' will include a Laney amp Comment from : @shoegazeforever8810 |
That little Orange Tiny Terror is a seriously awesome amp head! brI've wanted to try the Peavey for the longest timethe only downside of read of it was that the chrome face plate I guess can be difficult to read sometimes like on a dark stage But I suppose most everything is difficult to read on a dark stage 😅 Comment from : @jdlawrence1222 |
Orange micro terror is the dogs! But personally I would replace with the micro dark version (or the stamp possibly as it’s essentially a dark in pedal form with a boost) purely because of the fx loop Also I prefer the shape control on the dark rather than the tone control on the terror I have both versions and find myself gravitating to the micro dark more than the micro terror Comment from : @ThePiercedOne |
The hair are brilliant Hahahahaha Comment from : @bernardblood9447 |
If I can add my own two cents I'm going to throw in the Fender Mustang 3 1x12 100 watt combo modeling amp The clean and crunch tones on it are pretty solid, the high gain tones leave a little to be desired, BUT, with a good overdrive or distortion pedal thrown on over a clean channel it sounds fantastic It has different effects that are all customizable to your liking As well as 100 different customizable tone settings I don't believe it's available for purchase other than second hand anymore unfortunately It would run about $450 CAD new, which in my opinion is perfect for any intermediate bedroom/just starting to gig guitarist Comment from : @Vaxilion |
As a Fender Bassbreaker owner I can’t agree more with how good they are! I don’t use any pedals with it at all as it just sound mega on its own The damn microcube too, still sounds brilliant after all these years too hahabrMuch love Rob, these best of vids have been great fun! Comment from : @Phillip_Brewin_Hutchins |
i would go for a Randall RG amp 20 or 50 watt, and do you need bigger go for used 75 or 100, best amp for the money Comment from : @Tbasker |
Nothing will ever surpass a valve (tube) amp imho Comment from : @chrisdaviesguitar |
Great stuff, Chappers, cheers! Comment from : @AllanGildea |
The Micro cube was the Katana before the Katana Comment from : @ivorharden |
These little series 'best of' youve been doing have been brilliant, loved watching these Robkeep up the greatbrWork 🎸🥳 Comment from : @baldybonce29 |
Loool appease our AI overlords! Comment from : @craggle_guitar |
In the 1980s I sold a 70s Fender Musicmaster Bass all tube amp to buy a Carlsboro 40W solid state amp I had to include actual money Money F**k Comment from : @Visionism |
There are lots of comments lately about the AI thumbnails Jfc chill out It's a thumbnail He's not opening a gallery and presenting it as human-made art Comment from : @DMFChavez |
What a awesome video have a good weekend ❤😊 Comment from : @aminahmed2220 |
I've been here since the beginning and these recaps are fun I remember watching all of these videos when they first went live years ago It's amazing how much gear has changed and how much Youtube has evolved It's been a cool experience watching your own journey too You were very kind when we met for a brief photo at the NYC Guitar Center after your clinic with Rebea You both played Boss Katana amps, if anyone is wondering Wishing you the best Comment from : @JeffStarr |
What’s the Amber color double cut over? Rob’s left shoulder?? Is it a new Chapman double cut coming out in 2024??? Fingers crossed Fingers crossed Comment from : @MidLifeProject |
I can't believe the amp I have actually is on your list! I got a Bassbreaker 15 watt combo a few years ago and I love it Took me a while to figure out how to dial in tones I like, but its been great Only 15 watts but I can hardly turn the volume up a quarter of the way in my room, its so damn loud! Comment from : @matthewbriggsguitar |
I have 2 x Vox MV50 AC and Boutique, Nux Mighty Air, Laney IRT Studio great for DI great back panel Comment from : @robertj1303 |

I’m loving this series, Rob Comment from : @simonwarner3601 |
No Fender Mustangs ? You sure liked them when you did the demos Comment from : @jimdep6542 |
Last clockwork wolf?? This saddens me! Comment from : @degerate |
My first ever amp when I was younger was a Roland Micro Cube so I was definitely happy to see it included, it's a great little practice amp but can sound absolutely freaking monstrous and I still love it Comment from : @andrewpappas9311 |
The Bassbreaker 15 is the sweetspot amp The one that's not mentioned here, probably since it was cheap and ubiquitous is the Peavey Bandit, especially the last Transtube versions They were/are reliable, loud, overlooked amps Hint: change the speaker, it'll work wonders Comment from : @tommanseau6277 |
The Bassbreaker is the sound of the Gods Incredible tones Comment from : @shanewalton8888 |
No Yamaha THR? Comment from : @IanWrigleyNZ |
Oh! Mate! Did not expect that! (In your Top Amps) I bought the last Peavey Classic 20 from Andersons (After your review) It was a return which I snapped up after driving from Cornwall to get it Absolutely love it I've paired it with a Barefaced 1 X 12 Cab and it sounds sick Comment from : @dcruz55 |
I've still got my Roland micro cube It's still a great little practice amp! You don't need the big bucks to get a good sound for practicing Comment from : @Fret-knot |
Waitbwhat whu no more clockworks singles? New band name? Comment from : @EdCoombesDogs |
I love my Nux Mighty Air, but it sounded much too small coming out of the built-in speakers I finally solved the problem by running its output into some large speaker cabinets — my Fly 3 (with its extension cabinet) 😂🤘 Comment from : @renodavid |
WellI must be missing something herewhy no Katanas? They too good, or is it just too obvious? Comment from : @leviathan_is_me |
I wasn’t expecting the end 😢 I love Clockwork Wolf & Co What will you be doing next? Comment from : @sheltermemercury |
I had an ht 5 and it was awesome now I've been looking into the Peavey classic 30 combo but might look at the head at 20w Anyway coolz video Happy Holidays for you and your family ☮️❤️ Comment from : @littlerhodyguitar2169 |
Peavey classic 20 is underrated and the best compromise between a fender and a Marshall you can get, still the Dsl20 could be had for less than 500 dollars a few years ago and they were a lot of amp for around 500 bucks but I’ve Al felt the Peavey classic series was severely underrated and overlooked if you can find one for around 300 or less in any form it’d probably be worth it especially if you’re kinda wanting to get into a fender ish amp but are coming from a Marshall style or I suppose it would serve the same purpose dipping your toes into something a little higher gain than the fenders but not completely different I feel like the peavey classic series is probably on more of our favorite recordings than anyone admits The old ones were built like tanks and real workhorses on the road Comment from : @brandonjackson5865 |
The Bassbreaker is amazing! I've got an FSR Bassbreaker 30R in lacquered tweed that is loaded with a Celestion G12H30 instead of the V30 and to put it mildly, it is a balls out 60's & 70's rock and roll machine! The perfect blending of Fender and Marshall in my opinion Comment from : @IMGuitar-Nerd |
When I was looking to start recording, I really wanted a proper amp and not just my pathetic digital simulacrum I was using at the time, and really for me it came down to two options: Blackstar HT or Fender Bassbreaker For some reason the Bassbreakers are quite a bit more expensive here in Germany than the ones I've seen on the UK market second-hand, so I opted for the HT20 and I'm glad I did I didn't think it'd be so easy for me to find "my" voice in an amp, but damn if it doesn't deliver exactly what I want out of an ampbrbrI'm enjoying this series of videos you're doing, Rob, but I would ask that you look a bit into the ethics of generative art such as you've been using in your recent thumbnails I know it delivers results quickly and easily, but the AI is trained on hundreds of thousands of artworks, very few of which were provided with permission by the original artists Comment from : @Kookiebiskit |
Great seeing the Subway bandit again 😂😂 Comment from : @christopherderycke3603 |
Its a lesser known brand but Kustom made a tube combo amp and I picked up mine used for $250 brAfter lots of experimenting between different tubes with the built in bias switch I stuck with the 6L6s and honestly its one of the most solid tube amps I've played, rivaling vintage Fenders that I've tried Comment from : @Magoooobly |
Wished I'd kept my boss Katana Went on a "valve " tone journey, orange, marshall ,now back to solid state Roland blues cube (which is great by the way) Live and learn You can buy yourself out of a good amp sometimes Comment from : @mike70s |
Shame you didn't time stamp it to bake it easier to jump to bits of interest and easy navigation Comment from : @jasond626 |
The negative part about the bassbreaker is that if something stops working on it it's basically unrepairable because of Fenders design Comment from : @Yohahn |
Vox Pathfinder 15RbrbrVox really needs to revisit this little gem Comment from : @OilCanHarry2U |
Man, I am telling you - Blackstar Silverline with footswitch I regret selling and thinking about getting again Main issue is People don't understand how much it give when you unlock it full capabilities You, me and amp for 10 minutes - it would be surely top 20 Comment from : @damasterkarej |
Imvredinle playing there robi think people forget just how good a guitarist you actually arei just got a laney cub 6 and its incrediblegot it b stock for £224 and its really worth checking out Comment from : @Adamski1989 |
