While South Africa, and later, Australia and New Zealand decided to decimalise on a ten shilling unit, it was, eventually, decided that we should retain the pound As a result, it was necessary to include a 1/2p coin Even so, some people still considered that this was too large a unit for the smallest coin, since it was worth 12d and, before decimalisation, the smallest coin was the 1/2d, which would have required a new coin at 1/4p These days, when the 1/2p has long gone and the 1p and 2p coins have ceased to be necessary and are only minted (now in copper plated steel, since copper would make them worth twice their face value) we need to consider a recoinage, with the smallest coin being the 5p, possibly, something in copper similar to the old farthing and a 10p in copper, similar to the old halfpenny, since, with money now being worth only about 2 of what it was at decimalisation, this would be a logical move

Yes, when South Africa literally had all the money in the world, producing 90 of the world's gold per year Nixon did a great thing for one generation of Americans with the petro dollar, but now its over and the sham the world has been running on will be clear to all in the next few years, if not next few months
