Renaming Gulf of Mexico in United States as Gulf of America is a really weird thing if you think about it First of all "America" consists both North and South America It's the name of the continent, not a name of one country I'm not sure Trump has realised it Secondly just because USA names it like that doesn't mean the rest of the world would start using the name In that sense it's a real weird thing to do, but I assume it's more like making the "Americans" (as in the citizen of United States not the citizen of every country in the continent of America) feel powerful Completely political decision which doesn't affect any other country at all
