The Title 1 program changed my life! brHow was that the department of education’s fault entirely? If students aren’t performing at grade level, it has more to do with the educators directly around them as well as the parents For example:In elementary school, I had speech issues and reading disability induced by undiagnosed dyslexia No one seemed to notice until I reached the third grade when my third grade teacher noticed my delays in those specific areas As the responsible, resourceful, and thoughtful woman she was, she advocated to qualify me for the title 1 reading program I was in the program for approximately two years when I was assessed and confirmed to be caught up with my peers That program changed my life, and I continuously performed in the top 20 of my class and graduated with honors in both high school and college My elementary school was a lower middle class school in a small town in rual Wisconsin If it wasn’t for that teacher and title 1 program , I certainly would’ve been left behind because my parents didn’t pay attention to my academics, as they weren’t educated themselves, and frankly didn’t notice that I was so far behind in my development And honestly, they would’ve been fine if I just barely passed brSo yes, let’s let the parents decide what’s right for their kids when it comes to their education, and that’s wonderful if there are parents that do pay close attention to that, but unfortunately many parents are working full-time and trust that the tax funded public schools are staffed with responsible educators to educate and assess their children in ways that they do not know how we’re certainly going to see a divide with this coming And I hope I’m wrong in that regard I believe the title 1 program should stay intact and be transferred to the treasury! And what about poor and underpopulated states like New Mexico? They really depend on these programs!

The way to "reshape" the DOE is to shut it down It is yet another Leftist scam to take your money and waste it By EVERY measure the DOE is a failed agency Since 1977, it has spent $436 BILLION while American student's test scores have dropped from 1st in the world to 13th with China, Hong Kong, and even Estonia ranking higher (PISA statistics) Furthermore, SAT scores have been lowered ("re-centered") twice to hide the horrible job done by DOE Education is a state and local function

Education has always been with the states If you want your children to attend a private school pay for it out of your own pocket States offering "vouchers" only cover some of the tuition which for lower income families is still too expensive Can see how well these programs are doing in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisana

We have departments of education at City, County, and State level; why need one more at Federal level; US needs these drastic reduction in 'More Departments'; they suck up tax dollars and interferes in high-quality education; we need to focus more on excellence in education
