I have a record player at home and at work I only buy records I love every second of and I have a modest collection of over 60 records I listen to my records all the time Although I do use Bluetooth at work and that might make the audiophiles cringe

I use a suitcase turntable I know it’s not that great for the records, but I’m also in it for the collecting If damage becomes noticeable I won’t play the album again and move it from my bookshelf to my wall for display

I mostly only buy what im going to listen to, but I do have a few that I dont listen to just because of what that spesific album represents, or if it has some real beautiful album artwork None of those are new though, usually old and damaged vinyl I got cheap

I bought a vinyl record of the foo fighters two years ago and I bought a shitty suitcase player since it was all I could afford at the time I returned the record player because it was literal dog shit and my dad said he’d take me to a record store on national record day or something like that in August safe to say we never went and I just have a record

if your a beginner btechnically i still am/b recommend a Crosley like a suitcase player i know you have probably heard of bad thinks like i breaks records it doesn't trust my i wouldn't let it touch my caretaker recs if your not happy with needle performance you can always get a new needle or replace it bin us there 40 bucks/b its a good starter

I listen to my records as much as possible I gives me great pleasure to handle turntable, covers and vinyl It is a listening ritual that sets the right mood dig in to the music But the gear is also important :-)

For me my records are an "and" not a "instead" I have 2 turntables, a headphone setup at my desk, and a turntable with bookshelves in my bedroom When I am in my office or laying in bed relaxing i listen to vinyl But I also build custom iPods so i use those for all the in between But i listen to music 50 digital, 50 vinyl However records are my favorite due to the hunting, collecting, cleaning, all the good stuff

There really is no point owning records unless you're going to play them The same way it's pointless to own books for aesthetic reasons, rather than reading them 🙄 I have the same feelings about keeping records in sealed conditions for years and years They're not souvenirs or mantelpiece items, they're records - play them and enjoy them, treat them with care and love and they'll last you a lifetime I have around 25-30 of my own, and a newly acquired Audio technica ATL60xBT , and I'm really enjoying getting back into playing my favourites again

I'd been collecting CDs, but knew I wanted to collect vinyl I bought my two favourite albums first because I could afford to buy them brbrI didn't have a turntable for a few months, just because I was saving up and wanted to get a good one When I finally bought one, I could only listen on my bluetooth earbuds until I could afford some new speakers I had a hifi for my CD collection, and I initially wanted to play records using those speakers but didn't realise they wouldn't connect without having a bunch of adaptors and an amp It was more cost effective and less confusing to just buy new speakers with a built in amp brbrIt took me a while to actually be able to listen to my vinyl and my collection is tiny I love every album I have, and adore my setup, even if it took forever to get it
