This is really solid advice! bri have teached for around 6 years (5 of them part time) and these are good also for starting up a new class even after you have some experiance under your belt brbrI do a fairly simple group exersice the first day to get my students to bond and start talking with each other: in groups of two, they have to represent each other and talk about: 1 something they like to do that they like 2 talk about expetations for the course brafter they have done this for around 5 mins they have to switch over and let the other student talk about the same topics bronce that is done, they have to represent the OTHER student and tell some basic infomation to the rest of the class brbrthis is both a good icebreaker and it makes the students talk with each other plus its a little assigment in active listing brbralso very good tip about balancing the icebreakers/games and the more tradtional teaching; Dont underestimate that students are often (hopefully) motivated to come to your class due to the core stuff that you are teaching (that might be language, math or i my case HR and business stuff) I have been a mentor for new students while i was at university and the first 3 days even we had alot of icebreakers and games to make the students bond with each other But often i got the question: when does the actual teaching start!? some of them felt de-motivated for the tradtional teaching wouldnt start at day one brso yes balancing "core teaching" with icebreakers is a good tip Comment from : @Rex1987 |

How do you monitor and error-correct ding group work?
