Big mistake to handle proof coins that way It will affect the value of the coin Comment from : @GeologyDude |
Never place your fingers on the surface of a coin as the oils will damage the surface Comment from : @peterwilson |

funny they are handling the proof coins with bare hands and sticking that wax stuff on it oh please you never handle the coins like that or stick stuff to your Proof Coins Please everyone who is interested in coin photography please check out "Copy Stands" you can find them at wwwbhphotovideocom and same with these light box shooting stages Just don't follow these guys they are not coin people and are just photographers perhaps but no numismatics skills here!!! Your second coin is highly polished proof and you are putting some glue to it surface? Do you know what actually you are talking about? Comment from : @1963921 |

Do Not follow these tips, you will ruin your coins, very bad advice Comment from : @bazzachamp3718 |

This video is shocking as it shows no understanding on how to handle coins The way the coins are supported is likely to reduce the value of the coins ( particularly with the large silver piece) Once you have finger marks on a coin you rarely remove them without removing value!! Would love to see any coin photography aids you could provide (vids, tips etc) Also, would be grateful for example sites that demonstrate best practices Just starting to dig into this and looking for helpful resources Thanks Comment from : @AgileMediaGuy |

I apologize for so many questions but we had one more What set up would you recommend for shooting raw uncirculated Morgan Dollars? We can get some serious detail using axial lighting but the uncirculated almost looks proof and has some trouble showing any luster depending on the angle of the glass Comment from : @ryanpatrick5383 |
That would be awesome We are getting some better pictures already Although we are having some issues with the lighting set up Do you think it is worth it to buy a certain light studio or to use a certain number of lights from specific angles Most of our highest quality coins are graded so we will have to conquer the glare from the plastic holders on them Comment from : @ryanpatrick1438 |

Would it be useful if I made some coin photography videos? I've spent years working out the best way to photograph coins and at the start they all looked terrible now it is easy, like anything Practice makes perfect! Comment from : @garethshaw57 |

Beyond that white balance, buying a color Munki passport will save you loads of time Shoot, correct it in Lightroom, copy and paste the white balance and colour corrections to all other files and hey presto Also great for weddings and the like! What kit do you have and what are you shooting? Comment from : @garethshaw57 |

I'm a canon man, using 1d and 5d's the rebel is an excellent camera Unless you are planning to enlarge beyond A2 pretty much any camera will do the job Most import part I'd always the lens I either use a 100mm 28 macro or a 24-70 with an extension tube or 2 Quality with ext is the same due to the lack of glass If its for fun any lens with macro capabilities will work Comment from : @garethshaw57 |
Thank you very much for your quick response it was certainly helpful I also had a question on camera type are there any that you might recommend? I have heard a cannon rebel possibly but was unsure of a lens type Comment from : @ryanpatrick1438 |
I was wondering what would you recommend for slabbed coins as far as lighting? The glare from the plastic is tough to work with Comment from : @ryanpatrick1438 |

They come with the MS32 complete kit, but they are fairly basic bounce cards made of white photo matte board with easel backs that attach to the back You may be able to find similar items at photography shops Pro Cyc sells them separately in their MyStudio online store as well Comment from : @tabletopphotography |
