If you your photography requires High Iso and Autofocus responsibility go for the 5D3 but if you only need to shoot at Low Iso and you want more colour richness and overall image quality go for the 5D2 and save a few bucks and get a new lens with the money difference

No one ever mentions the silent mode or programmable settings c1 to c3 These turn your camera into three different cameras I have one set so my flash doesn't fire even though the flash is on

FYI: The HDMI out on the 5D Mark III is NOT compressed - it outputs full 1080i However, it is not 'clean', in that GUI elements are visible on the monitor and it is not suitable for external recorders

But in fairness, D800 and 5DIII both equally great and trade punches here and there Even the marked shadow noise and banding in 5DIII when you overly recover shadows can be dealt with via exposure compensation when shooting Consumers can't lose whichever system they will/already own

I enjoy my camera but you have to know your video files will look soft and you will need to add sharpening in post Canon designed the video to record softly to avoid moire issues that appear in the Canon 5D Mark ll

Personally I would only go for the 1DX over the 5D3 if I needed the 12 frames per second, or if money was no object, because you are paying double the money for those fps

i would think the 1DX would be a tiny bit better at high iso, and of course the 12 frames per second more than 6 fps, but i think as far as picture quality up to 32OO iso there wouldn't be any difference in the image, but I wonder if Mark would agree with me

You really can't do a "complete" review without talking about competitor cameras IMHO Like the D800 Even if some people viewing this video review might not care like yourself I am sure many others DO Like myself I would have liked to have him mention how the 5D3 compares to the D800 in high ISO as far as details are concerned Some reviews say while the images are cleaner than the D800 details are lost Did he find the same thing

Nice review Mark I'm glad it was somewhat stills photography biased as most reviews these days tend to be more video related I got one of these a few days back and I'm loving the IQ and responsiveness The AF is truely amazing - miles apart from the aging 9pt system on the MkII and my old 50D This camera is a pleasure to use As a stils camera this is a huge upgrade from the MkII People shouldn't get caught up on the fact that the resolution hasn't changed - it's a much better camera

This is an excellent and most comprehensive review of the 5D Mark 3 to date!!!!!! the other reviews on youtube dont come close to the level of detail you have gone to and provided images to back up your review!!! Makes me happy with my 5D Mk3 purchase I love the camera and low light ability is ridiculous!! I no longer fear shooting at 6400 ISO any more I regularly shoot in little to no light at 6400 and higher!!!!

@adoramaTV Mark, I disagree with you I think you've to see it as an upgrade to the MKII When there's an upgrade, it's obvious that it's going to have new things The difference is when it's a minor or a major update In this case, it's a major update I think the question is more: should you pay that price for the camera? Is it worth?
