You need to find the person that “wants” the coin , and will “pay” what the “book” says it’s worth When you go to a coin dealer you’re “demanding” that he “inherits” all that work from you I’ve had a 1926 peace dollar in my case for $22 for a couple years now If you want someone to “liquidate” your coin for full book value it needs to be a graded “key” coin in good condition, and even still you’re asking the dealer to “inherit” the work of retailing the coin

Pcgs and Ngc both have a price guide or price values on there website's Some coins do go down in value if to many are graded at that grade for that year and mint mark

Let me explain how it works, the retail price is the "Red Book Price" Dealers don't buy at retail they buy wholesale or "Blue Book Price" Wholesale is 50 off of retail *in general* Most dealers offer about 35 off of melt They are out to make money, so they can't buy retail Good luck don't give up, its always best to sell to the public If you have the time HH!!
