But if you’re poor, with medical conditions, unable to hold a job sometimes you just have no other choices and need to have a first or second source of income to pay the bills, etc Personally, I wonder if getting rid of RA rich blood through blood donation will lessen pain within hands, knee’s, etc of people with RA On the other hand, I have also heard that the RA antibody cells collected from donations with RA are essential in manufacturing a helpful therapy for individuals with rheumatoid arthritis Therefore, if you’re not in the position to receive the therapy treatment for RA, you might as well donate so others can have your antibodies Perhaps, in a perfect, kinder world individuals with RA would have to donate in order to be a candidate for receiving the treatment This treatment I would certainly suspect is only available for people with private insurances, not Medicare patients

I donated plasma for the first time and when I left the facility I had an erection that lasted for two days until I went in for my next donation When I arrived and laid down for my second donation I explained to the nurse that I had a chubby ever since I had left after the first donation She immediately turned around and walked away Another male nurse came and escorted me out of the facility and called me a pervert He said I was banned from ever donating plasma there again I will never donate plasma again after this humiliating experience!

It's hilarious that you are covering this, but I love it! I'm a clinical laboratory scientist by profession and have worked at both blood donor centers and hospital transfusion departments Happy to clarify some of these talking points to one of my favorite IBC providers The FDA regulates blood donations/products because they are considered "therapeutics" That's the only reason they are mentioned so often around blood donationsbrbrI have some friends that do it and was actually thinking of doing it for a little bit of extra $$ But time is money and the center isn't all that close to me
