@docd5062
Any chance we could sign him to a new deal?
Comment from : @docd5062

@DavidBayliff
Bill smash that ball
Comment from : @DavidBayliff

@dcorzi
Can anyone tell what the pitch was? Wondering if it was a hanging curve?
Comment from : @dcorzi

@FredEvans-h4r
Did He Touch Home Plate??
Comment from : @FredEvans-h4r

@resin807
The fact that the camera is behind center field in 1960? This is the filming broadest angle I only assumed happened after the late 70’s brSo cool to see the pitches at this angle so long ago
Comment from : @resin807

@michaelb1766
That was of course before mlb players were wearing batting helmets brbrMaz was always incredible on the field
Comment from : @michaelb1766

@groofoot
Art Ditmar did Not give up Mazeroski's home run Ralph Terry did
Comment from : @groofoot

@ronflatter1235
Thompson calls the wrong pitcher It was Terry, not Ditmars
Comment from : @ronflatter1235

@TheBatugan77
I'm a Yankees fan This is a tad before my time But Maz lived the dream if every kid in their backyard By the time he's rounding third, he LOOKS like every kid in their backyard Good for him And it was a whale of a game!
Comment from : @TheBatugan77

@russs7574
This must be a very puzzling clip for the younger baseball fan to view Mazeroski didn't stand a home plate admiring his HR, he didn't flip the bat, and he made it around the bases in less than 3 minutesbrbrQuite the opposite of the divas that populate MLB today
Comment from : @russs7574

@wacopaco2099
If I were a pirates fan at this game, I think I’d just melt into a sort of goo of emotion
Comment from : @wacopaco2099

@jamesbieschke2497
One of those unexpected, serendipitous moments that make baseball so memorable, so historic, and so exciting
Comment from : @jamesbieschke2497

@mattedwards3387
Mazeroski's home run gets all the attention, but that whole Game 7 was amazing seesaw lead changes, big hits, crazy bounces, crafty baserunning and not a single batter on either team struck out! I'll argue it must've been even better than Game 6 of the '75 series for sheer entertainment & drama, but the '75 series was in color, in prime time, and most folks are too young to even know about 1960 anymore
Comment from : @mattedwards3387

@markalexandervanderveen2799
Second greatest home run in that game behind the Hal Smith home run
Comment from : @markalexandervanderveen2799

@altf-id5gg
I live in southeastern pennsylvania and I am family friends with people who go by the mazeroskis, not realizing that they are the grandchildren of bill mazeroski His son David Mazeroski was my brothers basketball coach, which i think is pretty cool
Comment from : @altf-id5gg

@ErekErekson
Mazeroski's wall is still standing I have been there to pay homage to him
Comment from : @ErekErekson

@timculp
Happy 88th Birthday to Bill Mazeroski 9-5-24
Comment from : @timculp

@eli10az
This is thirdbrbr#1 - Bobby Thompsonbrbr#2 - Kirk Gibson
Comment from : @eli10az

@David-yw2lv
One of the stranest of all World SeriesPittsburgh won all four of their victories by one runThe three Yankees victories were blowoutsThe Yankees outscored the Bucs by a huge margin in all seven games
Comment from : @David-yw2lv

@BurntOrangeHorn78
We would listen to this game on a new fangled transistor radio at recess in elementary school in San Antonio For some reason, most of us were Pirate fans It was a highly exciting series even though we were far away from it Recognition to Roberto Clemente
Comment from : @BurntOrangeHorn78

@bobwatkins9743
What did Blanchard say to Ralph Terry before the last pitch??
Comment from : @bobwatkins9743

@mickeyjudge7298
I was 3 Haven’t gotten over it yet
Comment from : @mickeyjudge7298

@tomd7861

Comment from : @tomd7861

@Robinsnest219
Best moment in baseball! Bill is my cousin and he was the greatest ever! Also a wonderful, personable man Love him!
Comment from : @Robinsnest219

@9Ballr
What a crazy World Series that was!
Comment from : @9Ballr

@BiffJackson-o4i
Most underrated home run because it was hit in Pittsburgh against the beloved NY Yankees
Comment from : @BiffJackson-o4i

@anthonytripp2251
Huge Pirates fan but I would say it is number three behind Bobby Thompson and Bucky Dent, as those occured with their team behind Still the greatest WS homer
Comment from : @anthonytripp2251

@bobbysands6923
He was a man of destiny If Casey hadn't messed up the pitching staff, the Yankees would have won If that ball doesn't bounce up and hit Kubek on the throat there would have been no Pirate rally (5 runs!!!) and the Yankees would have won And if Mantle gets doubled off of first (and he was safe by a 1/4 inch), the Pirates win 9-8 but no Maz HR So, someone up there wanted Maz to be a hero Amazing
Comment from : @bobbysands6923

@theonly1-66
This was the best clip of this game I’ve seen Great mix of audio and video
Comment from : @theonly1-66

@warrenrosen132
Blanchard to Terry: just,lob in a hanging curve ball What could go wrong?
Comment from : @warrenrosen132

@prisonersforprofit
looked like a hanging curve ball over the plate, mazeroski got all of it amazing finish, showing the scoreboard underscoring the crazy ending
Comment from : @prisonersforprofit

@mikeborgmann
That ball landed in someone’s back yard!
Comment from : @mikeborgmann

@pwinson
The announcer saying "Art Ditmar throws" when he wasn't even in the game is a massive botch
Comment from : @pwinson

@deepcosmiclove
Terry's 1st pitch was a lollypop and Blanchard went out to talk to him Whatever he said didn't work as Terry threw another batting practice pitch to Maz Two years later he would do it again to McCovey but got lucky instread
Comment from : @deepcosmiclove

@thomaso5384
The two greatest plays in American sports history, Maz’s home run and Franco’Immaculate Reception both in the burgh!
Comment from : @thomaso5384

@syourke3
Yankees out-scored the Pirates 55-27 In their three wins, the Yankees out-scored the Pirates by 38 - 3 Let that sink in 38 - 3! That’s an average of 13-1 per win! Mickey Mantle literally broke down and cried after this game I can’t say that I blame him
Comment from : @syourke3

@SportsAndHorrorFanatic
Apparently the catcher gave the pitcher the wrong advice during their mound visit
Comment from : @SportsAndHorrorFanatic

@mikeyoungblood94
Johnny Blanchard, the Yankee catcher here (Yogi was in LF) admitted he called for a slider but the slider forgot to slide…😳
Comment from : @mikeyoungblood94

@classicguitarfan8
I like how the announcer doesn't attempt to soliloquize about the HR, he's just like "and the final score is"
Comment from : @classicguitarfan8

@johnlipinski2395
I was born 7 - 15 - 61 There's a good chance I was conceived on this great day in Pittsburgh sports history!
Comment from : @johnlipinski2395

@halffeelee
I wonder how much that timeout that the catcher called threw the pitcher off his rhythm?
Comment from : @halffeelee

@socaljarhead7670
It’s not just the greatest home run ever it’s the greatest play in the history of professional sports
Comment from : @socaljarhead7670

@TheBatugan77
So the Pirates have what, four World Series wins That's a good decade for the Yankees! brHeh heh heh heh 😅brHEH HEH HEHEHE 😆
Comment from : @TheBatugan77

@johnsmith-md3rf
Neither team struck out There's only been one other game since that game in which there were zero strikeouts, that was in 1987
Comment from : @johnsmith-md3rf

@brianarbenz1329
I was 2 years old, but I have read all about this moment since I was old enough to read This and Bobby Thomson's '51 homer were the most dramatic in baseball history And both were off pitchers named Ralph I guess that's part why the name became so rare
Comment from : @brianarbenz1329

@rascal211
It didn't look like he hit it all that well
Comment from : @rascal211

@rongarland2576
My dear friend Bob Scavetta, a diehard Yankee Fan, will not allow the words "Bill Mazeroski" or "Pittsburgh Pirates" to be spoken in his presence, even after all these years Bahahahaha!!
Comment from : @rongarland2576

@bws468
Couldn't help but notice the announcer said Art Ditmar served up the homer, not Ralph Terry
Comment from : @bws468

@retiredmusiceducator3612
I was watching this with my dad and grandpa in Watertown, SD It was great to find this
Comment from : @retiredmusiceducator3612

Comment from : @kenowens9021

@nathanberry561
My late great grandfather was at this game a few days after my grandfather was born, it’s one of my favorite stories to hear from my pop, RIP to two great men
Comment from : @nathanberry561

@terrancethomas9792
Great trivia question: when Mazeroski hit that home run to left to win the 1960 World Series, who was the Yankee Left Fielder?br brbrbr Yogi Berra
Comment from : @terrancethomas9792

@bennylabenze9668
If this didn’t actually happen, I wouldn’t think it was possible
Comment from : @bennylabenze9668

@kathleendunworth9875
I was 9 yrs old, thought my family was crazy!! NOW I know!!
Comment from : @kathleendunworth9875

@hesedken
I was in grade school and the administration allowed us to go to the auditorium to listen to the game I was too young to know a lot about baseball, but I wanted the Pirates to beat the Yankees because they were famous for being such a great ball club I even prayed, and was thrilled with the victorybrYears later, recollecting how hard life is with social problems and wars, I don't have such a love for sports as I once did God bless
Comment from : @hesedken

@trock6577
I’m still sick about this 63 years later Just got home from school and walked in to this
Comment from : @trock6577

@jrweaver9110
Down goes Casey!
Comment from : @jrweaver9110

@dirliedirl
I grew up with that voice - hall of famer Chuck Thompson Yes, on the HR pitch he said "Ditmar throws", instead of Ralph Terry (he later said he simply got caught up in the moment and saw Ditmar warming up in the bullpen) But all the same, that voice is the soundtrack of my sports life in Baltimore RIP Chuck
Comment from : @dirliedirl

@shrapnel77
Never has a world series winning team been beaten up so badly by the opposition The MVP was Bobby Richardson, a Yankee
Comment from : @shrapnel77

@fearthebeard1958
I hate Bill Mazeroski he made the Mick cryThe Bronx Tale
Comment from : @fearthebeard1958

@dennisznaniecke490
Thomson Homer still best!!
Comment from : @dennisznaniecke490

@tds2117
Yeah this is most likely the greatest home run ever hit, at least in the modern era
Comment from : @tds2117

@notisickywicky1124
Hal Smith hit a three run home run the inning before to take the lead, it was the most the odds changed from losing to winning in the World Series off one hit
Comment from : @notisickywicky1124

@max-xn3vt
I swear george costanza was at this game😂
Comment from : @max-xn3vt

Comment from : @richcas3491

@kenq1363
What’s really amazing is Bing Crosby was the only one that had this TV version for 50 years Nobody saw this home run from this angle until 2010
Comment from : @kenq1363

@geraldlogue7620
I can't think of anything better than having the thing you're best known for being the first player to hit a walk-off home run in game 7 of the World Series
Comment from : @geraldlogue7620

@Dave-ti2ue
Ralph Terry was the pitching star and MVP of the 1962 World Series vs the San Francisco Giants Fate is a fickle mistress Lol
Comment from : @Dave-ti2ue

@ianguill803
soccer is my sporti came across this moment in baseball when reading george Westinghouse 's bio and decided to check it outbut back to the game i love how he celebrated his home run like the way soccer players and fans do when their team makes a goalbottom line is i love how sports brings people together in celebration, no matter what color, country or language one speaksthe joy is unanimous ❤

@cosmicjerry8570
📺 🧙‍♂️ Lets Go Yankees ⚾
Comment from : @cosmicjerry8570

@michaelgreene4748
Just before the Maz homerun, Chuck Thompson misidentified the Yankee Pitcher as Art Ditmarit was Ralph Terry who threw the pitch that Maz sent at least 406 feet, and gave the Pittsburgh a chance to relive V-J daythere were VERY loud celebrations in the area, and fans jammed streets in Downtown Pittsburgh, throwing confetti out of office building windows
Comment from : @michaelgreene4748

@edcal33166
I wonder what the Yankees’ pitcher and catcher talked about before that last pitch Did they change anything or was it just a settle him down delay?
Comment from : @edcal33166

@bluzzedude2677
This centerfield camera shot sat in NBC's archives for decades Forbes Field was a tough tough place to hit a HR Man, you talk about hangin' a slider right in his "wheelhouse"
Comment from : @bluzzedude2677

@stevekirsch1265
This is the greatest World Series home run ever
Comment from : @stevekirsch1265

Not just the greatest home run ever but perhaps the greatest single play in the history of American sports
Comment from : @socaljarhead7670

@lesliecolonello9320
I was 13 years old The school suspended classes while we listened to the game on a radio When Maz hit the dinger the teachers were hugging and dacing in the hallway It was the first time I saw teachers as real people
Comment from : @lesliecolonello9320
