IM 22 and trying to learn these strategies as I finish my last semester of college here My biggest question is understanding his coined term of economic moat I need a better understanding of how he places a value on these businesses Is it figuratively or literal? Figuratively him putting his mindset on a good value or is he finding a number that makes sense based on revenue and costs of the company? Im graduating with a web design degree and wishing I went for an economics major Anyone here have any tips for my age and situation?

The etf SCHD is basically an index fund of strong companies that pay out dividends It only has an expense ratio of 006 and has performed well since it came about 10 or so years ago I highly recommend people consider adding it to their portfolio With enough time, you can use those dividends later in life to largely live off of without touching the principle

Its worse here, our economy is like a flailing fish, fighting for its life The normal state of the US economy is actually very bad Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining

When I started investing, I met with huge success, in that I invested what little I had (in the 10's of thousands), in the the magnificent 7 Nowadays, I have decreased my positions in almost all of them and shifted to index funds simply because I became more conservative, and no longer had as much time to dedicate to valuing companies I do occasionally do it, but I haven't found any to realistically invest in yet

The last question - a successful tech company that doesn’t really manufacture much, like Google or Amazon or Microsoft because you don’t have to scale up with factories and huge investmemt, the scale up costs very little, so most of the sales go straight to profit; and there are winner takes call effects with tech companies so the moat is extreme It’s decades before something moves them off their dominant position

I usually value a company in 5 mins and it comes out near the 10k two months evaluation companies do basically take 5 of assets and credits plus 4 times net profit minus any pending court cases that's it done

From the dozens of interviews and “conferences” I’ve seen with warren buffet, I am convinced that this guy simply DOESN’T want to share ANYTHING that would help others invest This guy gives the most general, superficial and useless advices publicly Look at this, they’ve asked him what is he looking in the companies Fincancial statements in order to know if it’s good to invest or not Obviously the guy expected to hear “I’m looking at this margin EBITDA/Revenue ; I’m looking at these assets and these liabilities ; I’m looking in this ratio ; I’m looking in this cash flow ; etc etc etc” Instead, what answer did Buffet give?? “You have to know well the business you invest in and you have to read a lot”… Thank you Captain Obvious, this advice will make all of us rich! 😅😅😅😂
