Danke schön! I always though the difference was a regional dialect- that Northern German pronounced "CH" like English pronounced "SH" (or Polish SZ), and that Southern German was the heavier glottal growl

I find the hard CH easy, and the soft one isn't too bad when it's just one time, but when a sentence has several soft CH sounds in a row I get completely tongue-tied

as an Austrian (Vienna), one should also not forget to mention, that in Austrian German we also have a tiny-slightly different CH-sound, which is a bit different from your examples (same would apply for the typicial Schwytzerdüütsch or Sächsisch pronunciations)brbrbest regards from Lyon (France)

The hard way is soooo much easier than the soft way…which at times seems closer to ikh sound and other times it seems closer to a dense “ish” sound
