Learning grammar via rules of German is fine when your grading a student's theme but not too practical when writing or speaking I find it most useful to hear the word or words in context and learn the endings (ie) by repetition When I have progressed enough to differentiate by sound, I feel I've reached a new and higher level Comment from : @robertseamangaknight7734

I've just started learning German a week ago(9 days actually) on Duolingo I know that is not the most efficient way but it helps me stay consistent, even with a pretty hectic schedule I realise starting with vocabulary actually wasn't a disadvantage for me since the concept of having "gendered" words, and changing the "suffixes" of words based on the gender of the subject isn't so foreign to me given my native languages, Telugu and Hindi, also have a similar concept, albeit not the same thing So it was easier for me to not be confused or overwhelmed, and just learn without feeling too puzzled on what was going on Comment from : @pythonicd1239

I know this is not a comprehensive grammar course Regarding the 4 cases, if it were only that easy if we just stick to the functions you mentioned: direct and indirect objects However, the difficulty resides in that accusative and dative cases have other functions that have nothing to do with direct and indirect objects, for example when triggered by certain verbs or prepositions Comment from : @gatovaca2448

Scripted German is what i do all the time Things that help me learn vocabulary: 1 Joining a German band or read German music 2 Watching Tageschau ( Daily German News) or other German shows 3 Joining a German-American Club or attending Stammtisch meetings Diese ist was werks fuer mich!
