For myself, learning chords, time & key signatures will be most difficult but with the rest of your tips like practice every day, I'm sure I will improve at least 1 each day Comment from : @shelleyyoung2134 |

I’m absolutely new to piano, but can I say one tip I think is good is to start with nursery rhymes instead of going straight to song… and learn your keys well … Comment from : @nawang1980 |

I'm 54 and started about a month ago (I think I have a head start, I played bass for 25 years and my mom played piano for 60 years God bless her soul) Your videos are sooooo helpful! Thank you! Comment from : @chrisyager6093 |

I'm 37 abd just learning it I was doing the "draw notes with te pen tool" in daw piano rolls bs for 18 years with a mouse and I want to get on the next level playing and read notes correctly I'm learning the basics very fast from teaching videos and my goal is to get the full routine while playing Learning after you wake up is definitively the best way You got so much energy and so focused I will practice every day My first instrument is an AKAI MPK Mini MK3 in combination with Cubase 14 and I'm already fell in love with it :) Comment from : @StereoForge |

My goal in 2025 is to gain back the excitement for learning that I had in my younger years (I'm 26) Adulthood really sucks it out of you if you let it I grew up poor so i didn't have access to a lot of the things I wanted to try as a kid Last year, I took fencing classes for the first time, I wasn't good but I had so much fun The year before that, I took a few ballet classes My goal isn't to get good really, I just wanna play like I did as a kid Comment from : @prettyprincess8187 |

I know how to read music and play an instrument, but piano seems very hard to me The fact that your left and right hands are doing different things at the same time is intimidating I definitely want to learn because I love piano music Comment from : @karami8844 |

No piano? Need a low-cost entry level instrument? You can buy, beg, rent or borrow a piano Also, (and some will dispute this) you can start with a relatively inexpensive keyboard I have a Yamaha upright downstairs left over from my daughter's practice I could use that, but I find it more convenient to use a keyboard upstairs while wearing headphones in my computer room - I do some practice, do some browsing So I'm using an ancient Yamaha PSR-273 keyboard that I purchased on a lark 15 years ago It sat unused for 12 years It has 61 keys (27 less that a piano - missing the highest and lowest octaves) and touch-sensitive keys This is enough for years of learning Sound is not bad (good enough for me), but not to be confused with a high end keyboard You might find an older 273 for under $100 or even under $50, but I recommend buying a new Yamaha PSR-E383 for $170 online Has much better sounds than my old 273 No more annoyed wifeWhatever you buy, you should get a touch-sensitive keyboard so you can vary the volume for different passages However, a real piano has a much better feel ("action") Also, it will take hundreds of dollars to keep a real piano in tune But, if you're never going to buy a read piano, a sub $200 keyboard is good Of course, the more you pay the better the sound and extras [ This text was also posted as a nested response I thought it might be of interest to others so am moving it to top level postings] Comment from : @mike_98058 |

I think I can start my piano journey here! Comment from : @AAWhite |

Hello! I am a new subscriber here, and I am 56 years old My parents introduced me to piano lessons when I was in grade 3, and I truly enjoyed it Unfortunately, I had to stop when I transferred to another school Learning to play the piano has always been a passion of mine, even though I do not know how to sing
brI would greatly appreciate your recommendations for a keyboard that would be suitable for a beginner like me A keyboard that could teach me read the notes (I do not know if I described it right hehe) Additionally, if you have videos that could guide me on how to navigate and use the keyboard effectively, I would be very grateful I am familiar with the basics of musical notes (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do), but I have forgotten how to read them Thank you so much! Just starting out now on my 28th birthday! As a child I had a for-beginners Yamaha electric keyboard piano which I loved messing around with but I could only figure out so much on my own, definitely regret not knowing how to find resources at the time but here I am anyway and that's okay! I'm excited to actually try with so many resources at my disposal as an adult :) thank you for the tips! Comment from : @frostypaws14 |
|
I’m an adult, age 24 and started in the intermediate route due to certain circumstances I’ve never played piano as a kid but would mess around with my uncle’s keyboard But I love dedicating myself to practicing and taking it slowly but surely It is a nice hobby to have and to relax after work too! Comment from : @BluFemscoutShootingStarz |

I am 59 years old I started about three years ago; however, for about the last six months I have not been practicing Thanks for your advice I will make an effort to get back to it Thank you for your valuable videos Comment from : @rarsenio1 |

Spoken like a young person What you kids fail to understand is that when you actually get to be this age, you value your time more Young people can't fathom this at all, so I"m helping you out here Its not that an "older person" can't figure out how to play the piano Its more about their outlook Looking at "limited time" on this earth in the future vs all those decades that we can remember - way more decades than you can understand - time is a funny thing, it changes you So youve been alive how long? 30 years now? You don't understand yet You will So try again Remember that there now exists a NEW value system of time V value for my time You're coming from a non posistion, you don't understand the outlook from here, its not your outlook People would be more benefitted by someone who can explain the value of learning piano at your age when they actually understand that age, which you do not Comment from : @TheReporterArgus |

I am a man from the Netherlands, 70 years old and work 3 days a week But I do have time to practice every day I can't read music, and have never played a musical instrument I doubt if I could start with piano But after watching the 7 steps I understand very well that every day that I don't start is a day gone And all beginnings are difficultbrSo I think all your 7 steps are important and also logical My question is can I also take lessons if I buy a Yamaha keyboard? Or does it really have to be something with weighted keys Comment from : @pwpainter6375 |

I am in my 61st year and have been playing for about 2 1/2 months now I understand that this is a process (everything is a process), and so I haven't even started looking at songs yet; rather, I am getting down my scales, technique, staying in rhythm, and reading skills brWhile I am more interested in Jazz, I find your videos infinitely helpful I have already noticed a few plateaus climbed & I can say you helped boost me up these slopesbrKeep up the god work & I will keep watching Comment from : @Jana-Larson |

Hi Jazer, I really enjoy your tips I am 78, started lessons at 8 years, got really good in my 30s, 40s and 50s Had to slow down in my 60s, various reasons Now after carpal tunnel surgery, both hands, plus removing the trapezius bone on my Right, I am relearning I am playing hymns and classical at my church, every other Sunday and working with a flute player I’m not sure I’ll ever get my chops back, but you inspire me and I am going at it slowly and doing 7 times on the tricky bits I have lots of muscle memory on my favorite Chopin and that helps (Mostly waltzes) I pass on your videos to friends who are adult beginners Thanks for your encouragement, probably the hardest thing to do, is practice the new pieces SLOWLY! Lots of love and keep going! ❤️🎶🎵 Comment from : @marciamadeira846 |
