It's the employers that are underpaying CNAs Hospitals, home care agencies, nursing homes use the media to portray CNAs as thieves to discourage hiring them privately, which would cost the patient or their insurance less They act as middleman taking their money The family of the patients side with the care facilities to acquire the assets, eg the homes, of the elderly to do as they wish The cost paid to an employer of a CNA to care for a patient after the wages of said CNA is earned, is more than the pay of the CNA Meaning the family or insurance pays $30/hr (they pay way more than that btw), the employer takes $20 and pays the CNA $10 The employer of the CNA makes more money than the CNA actually doing the work Comment from : @TheRennarc |

Currently a nurse assistant and would never work for less than 30 an hour (cost of living in the bay area is ridiculous) I signed up for school and am excited to get my BSNAlot of the cna that I have worked with are immigrants or parents trying to get there kids through school please don’t say no degree get to wiping we do way more than wiping especially in acute care and get to know the patient way more than registered nurses Fyi if you become a Rn and expect not to wipe someones ass leave the industry its NOT for you, you will be a SHITTY nurse and no one will like to work with you Comment from : @Yourfavlatina94 |

In my honest opinion, it should be a requirement for nursing students to have a year or so CNA job/experience before taking the NCLEXbecause most new grads have NO idea of what they're actually getting themselves into It's sad because there are too many sad/angry RNs who just aren't built for healthcare, but in it for "money" and/or they have the degree I've been a tech for six years, and finally took the plunge into debt (lol) for nursing school this springand I'm SO ready Comment from : @Lauren-sc8ib |

Being a CNA is could be a test for anyone considering becoming a nurse If you can handle the "dirty work" and the different ways people react psychologically when they are sick and some if not all of their independence is taken from them, go ahead and become a nurse Physically it's very hard work so it's not something I would recommend longterm, especially considering the pay I work per diem at a hospital for $1050 an hour (not joking, pay in Florida is insulting) I'm 29 and when I get off a shift everything hurts I graduated Dec 18, and my boss wants to keep me on that floor So if you're looking to possibly have a secure job right after school is not a bad idea If you need more compensation stay away from hospitals or any other healthcare facility in general The pay sucks Private and agency is the best option if that's the way you want to go, plus it will be a lot easier on your back : ) Comment from : @ladynottingham89 |
