Polymer notes don't sit happily in your pocket like the old paper ones They have slang names I know the red $20 used to be called a lobster
Comment from : @suzannetaylor6598

@kenmccallum233
Before the polymer notes, one of the previous paper notes had an image of Francis Greenway on it He was transported as a convict to Australia for forgery, making Australia the only country to feature a forger on it's banknotes
Comment from : @kenmccallum233

@sereneaddicoat-bower16
The british royal family is also Australian's royal family
Comment from : @sereneaddicoat-bower16

@NadinePayne-g7o
The emu is on our coat of arms, along with the kangaroo Maybe we are sharing the love to other native birds You can fold notes in half, as they get older and more worn they are less stiff and will stay folded

@sudoertor2009
That dudes missing two of the $5 plastic variantsbrbrThe very first plastic $5 was a slightly different with a completely different font for the denomination, however it supposedly looked too similar to the $10 note so it was altered to the "original" one he showed Also, the original polymer used the standard serial number, but the ones after it have it so the first two numbers in the serial are of the year of manafacturebrbrThe second variant he missed was a commerative note from 2001 Looks kind of wild nglbrbrThe first $10 polymer I've only ever seen in collections, but the $5 variants ive only ever seen once every few years or so
Comment from : @sudoertor2009

@fennecfoxfello2875
emu is pronounced like if you put together gleam and you and cut the gl in gleam, "eamyou" idk if that would even help or not, and idk why im saying this 2 years after the video was posted, but why not
Comment from : @fennecfoxfello2875

Comment from : @robertcarveth8722

@marnierowden6393
…Erm did he just call a swan a goose😂😂
Comment from : @marnierowden6393

@LyndaDollery
If you leave money in your pocket and put it in the wash the note comes out perfect Gives a new meaning to money laundering
Comment from : @LyndaDollery

@davidcarter8133
Emu's never animals are on the coins as for the size of notes that's actually a really good idea
Comment from : @davidcarter8133

@alyssarichardson2544
The Kookaburra is a really cool bird They're super pretty, elegant, and like roosters they have a territorial call they sing or "laugh", hence Laughing Kookaburra brbrSide note: we don't care about the Emu war, we just put a bounty up and private citizens yeeted them (we still had guns), Americans do it too, y'know, the whole billion dollar PMC industry, what we're salty about is bpeople calling them "eem-oohs",/b it's "eem-YOUs" damnit! We have a beer called "Emu", it's not bad but Aussies actually drink it unlike Fosters
Comment from : @alyssarichardson2544

@alyssarichardson2544
the difference between the size is to make it easier for machines to recognise which notes are which (iirc)
Comment from : @alyssarichardson2544

@jeffmcdavitt7480
On return from an overseas surf trip , my wife washed some of my clothes while I slept The Aussie notes in my pockets survived but my passport not so I would hope passports will be made from polymer soon Expensive to replace, no discount for the years left on it 😢

@lorrainecostanzo9092
The emu and kangaroo are on are coat of arms, not on our money, the notes fit easily in your wallet if you just slide them in, but if you try to fold or bend them they won't go straight again, the New Zealand money is pretty too
Comment from : @lorrainecostanzo9092

@Sub_To_Spectra_Playz
7:53 yeah so the way it works is the bigger notes are worth more
Comment from : @Sub_To_Spectra_Playz

Comment from : @Fnvoxen

@arjovenzia
I know Im late to the show, but it seems really silly to have all your cash the same colour and size a $1 and $100 dollar bill being essentially the same thing? how do you even tell them apart? if I need $28 I can flip open my wallet and grab a red one and a blue one another priceless feature that is glossed over, its entirely waterproof if your expecting to go swimming (or get wet any other way), leave your wallet at home but shove some cash in your pocket, is very useful
Comment from : @arjovenzia

@pennylambert5067
It is Queen Elizabeth II on our bank notes Australia is a member of the Commonwealth & is a constitutional monarchy with the monarch as our Head of State Up until her death in 2022, it was Queen Elizabeth II Therefore, some of our notes and coins include her head King Charles is now the Head of State He isn’t on any of our currency & I don’t think there are any plans for that to happen
Comment from : @pennylambert5067

@dystar112

@leonardmatthews7142

Comment from : @Mick-h6m

@DavidRichards-lh2hw
Cold Hard Cash is best - EFT is too risky and unreliable, plus it incurs fees, and not everybody has an effing EFT device - garage sales, school fetes, other fundraisers
