The reality is that large designer brands such as Gucci, Hermes, LV, etc are becoming outdated as consumer demand has shifted from wanting to appear "wealthy" to wanting to show their "intelligence" 10 years ago if you bought a bjklux/b you were "cheap" and "fake", now you're "smart" and "cost-conscious" because customers have realised their's no need to pay 10x more for the same quality bag

I really agree with your points! I use to love large bags especially tote bags but now i gravitate more towards small-med handbags with a shoulder strap since it just makes my life easier I also cannot do bags that dont have adjustable straps The only bags i have that have a fixed length are vintage bags when, at the time, long straps were more on trend brbrI also find the first point very interesting since i own several late 1900s vintage Coach handbags made of thick full grain cow hide Some people are known to clean them by "dunking" them in water and theyre also known to be minimally affected by rain and water It makes me wonder why Hermes leather is more susceptible Vintage coach leather arent coated or stamped in any way so it can be scratched but because the leather is so thick, restorers can actually sand the scratch away

For most of the bags I'm using, I prefer to get my own shoulder straps as I find the complimentary ones too narrow - they'll cut into your shoulder with the weight of the bag and contents brbrHence the Balenciaga City bag's wide shoulder strap is one reason why I took a shine to it 😅
