I like the biggest sounding loudest guitar I can get my hands on So far it’s been a Gibson Advanced Jumbo But I’ve never got to try a HD35 I plan to try one very soon I lost my AJ in a house fire a few years ago Absolute cannon of a guitar and would stun the Martin guys with its volume 😂 But a new one is 5k now 😮 I hope the HD35 will be close or beat it

I own a Martin D-18 that I bought new in 1973 for $340 During those 51 years, I have had 1 neck reset, the saddle re-glued, new frets, and new tuners I have other, newer guitars But the D-18 has, by far, the best tone (especially in the bass) and the best punch The trick is to keep it humidified I been using the same noodle for decades

JeezMartin wins pretty clearly After 500 guitars played, 7 or 8 of 10 (I lost count) being Martins, makes the truth pretty clear I have owned 5 Martins and just bought my 6th I have tried to like Guilds, Taylors and Gibsonsbut I end up with Martins over and over

I've owned a lot of American vintage guitars over the years, my favorites were 000 Martins and Gibson j-50's and 45's I've also had my share of higher end boutique guitars Now my favorite guitar at age 66 is an archtop made by Tom Bills in St Louis, it plays like no other guitar I've owned I am on the search for another acoustic though and have given serious thought to hunting down another made by Tom Bills called the Genesis

To try and simplify the debate a little, most guitars $1000 plus with the right woods, a solid top, the right strings, a good action and proper set up can sound pretty much as good as any modern martin

Those are fine guitars bit there also very expensive Martin's are outrageous I have a MD 85,spruce top mahogany Alvarez that's about 35 years old and its sounds amazing Considering I only gave about 600 fir it br I also have another All solid mahogany Alvarez that sounds good too there masterworks line And a blue ridge with is my baby And and an ovation koa top This give me a range of of voicings In a acoustic style Guitars With out breaking the bank Sure I love Marin Taylor and Gibson but my wallet is not that fat,,,, I m a finger style player and allterant pick a lot too And these serve me well For that,, gospel bluegrass and country Boucher also makes a very good dread naught and there are lots 8f others Out there that have good Features I'm sold on blue ridge I may have just got lucky with the one I have but it sounds better than my old Martin did You just have to try different guitars till you find whstvyou like at a price you can afford ,

Yes i admit I too found the video both slightly annoying — because it was so Martin heavy, and cool — because it shows the diversity of us players Everyone has their own idea of what “sounds good” And that’s cool This guy is obviously Martin obsessed Which is ironic since he designed that Guitarsenal shirt with a variety of guitars on it Hah! As a recording artist, especially as a songwriter, I NEED diversity in my collection I have about 55 rotating acoustics And they do lean toward Gibson and Epiphone But my FAVs are 60s German made Hofners Hard to find But very full bodied and unique sounding Just nothing like them To me Martin and Taylor sound too “generic” — for MY taste And that’s my point Every player has their own taste And that’s what makes the whole scene so cool
