Vortex definitely had a brighter, clearer image but for 1200 dollars moreis that worth it? Maybe if you're filming for a YT video Comment from : @hokanut |
Great comparison It would be interesting to know if they came from the same factorybrbrAlthough the resolution is similar in both models, the colour aberration in the cheaper one is one clue about the quality of the optics I believe that apart from the guarantee of the Vortex it is also water and fog proof After a time you might get some humidity finding its way into the cheaper model in temperate or humid climates and this can cause fogging and mould growth over time which in some cases is impossible to polish out Comment from : @darylloth3237 |
What was the distance between the scope and the target? Comment from : @anthonycaldi7056 |
Now you guys try kowa TSN Prominar spotting scope with comparison Vortex Razor, after looking through Kowa you will start hating Vortex Razor Comment from : @trident8872 |
Need to test in low light Comment from : @siren481 |
Simply put the more expensive scope allows one to use a greater amount of magnification The cheaper scope may be 20x to 60x but it is probably not going to be usable past 30x Comment from : @brucesummers7448 |
maybe when you guys grow older this type of video will be more beneficial to your audience Comment from : @DA-jw6nm |
You should do a test in low light conditions, thats when quality optics pay off, in this test the differnece is clear, but for the price svbony may have sold me a scope brI wish vortex made the same budget scopes as binoculars Comment from : @spr00sem00se |
How far away were you guys? Comment from : @stephennadal4103 |
That cheaper scope completely distorted the image They cloned the case and put shitty glass in it I can’t imagine how bad it would be in low light or fog Comment from : @DominicPaz |
Real good video Comment from : @perfectgame23 |
You can see the colors separating at 60x so at 1000yrds it would look really bad and noticeable Comment from : @gtxhunter |
guys you should edit this video and add 1k yds just to compare That won't take long to fix :) Comment from : @DLN-ix6vf |
Based on this review (mainly) I bought the Svbony I use it for a target spotting scope so resolution was way more important than chromatic aberration If you read the specs you'll find the higher quality optics are not used in this one so you will get the color issues at higher magnification If you want photographic quality images at higher magnification levels you need a more expensive scope brbrI do not need photo quality, only the resolution As you can see in the video the resolution of the objects was as good as the more expensive scope I have verified at the shooting range that the resolution is good enough to see 6mm bullet holes at 600yd, even with a bit of mirage It starts getting 'iffy' at 700-800yd At 1000yd you can see the holes if you use one of the 'color change' targets At these ranges the mirage can sometimes 'swamp' the image Comment from : @vernonbice732 |
OMG, you haven’t noticed the chromatic aberration on the cheap scope? It’s quite bad Anyway thanks for the footage, now I know Svbony is not really good enough Comment from : @JozeZofa |
thanks Comment from : @KomenCents |
Haven't had a chance to test if it holds zero, but mounts just fine and has nice clear glass Centered vertically true to a plumb line with the crosshairs which is always a plus! It's a great wwwyoutubecom/post/Ugkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope There's no parallax adjustment or focus ring, so may be limited to 3-7x, have to see how it is on the range Also be aware that the rings are "look through" so you can still use irons, but they are really tall if you only intend to use the optics On a 22LR no biggie since I'm not shooting competitions or worried about a hard cheek press Will boresight and range test, if all goes well, I'll leave it at that! Comment from : @sakkiemaree4955 |
FWIW, the larger objective of the Vortex has nothing whatsoever to do with field of viewbrThe larger objective gives you a bit better ability to gather lightbrField of view is controlled by the internals of the scope Comment from : @Gunners_Mate_Guns |
Nice side by side comparison Bit of chromatic aberration from the SVBONY 46 Comment from : @dunringill1747 |
If you don’t want to be copied don’t have your products made in china, I don’t feel bad for vortex they charge 1400 for something they have made for probably 50 bucks Comment from : @IATowne |
How many yards was this test at? Comment from : @dsmtsi |
I do see the blue tinge with the SVBony vs the true black with the Vortex Both are nice though Comment from : @Wuud52 |
The fact that you can see the little black ants in the upper left-hand corner with both Scopes pretty much means that you don't have to pay big bucks to have a good spotting scope Comment from : @jerrycandelaria8845 |
What a pair of pathetic inadequate American w*nkers , killing animals because they are weak and f*cking feeble people who need to boost their egos I hope a grizzly gets you soon , pair of c*nts Comment from : @A67255 |

At 100 yards the SV has the purple hugh I would bet at 500 plus it's terrible Comment from : @adloutdoors |
It's not a copycat 90 of all scopes on the market are made by the same factories in China The "scope companies" are nothing more than marketing companies who supply the parameters to these factories who produce them to the specs requested Since the products all come off the same assembly lines, they almost look identical Comment from : @skim2958 |
What range was that? Comment from : @doityourself2save |
The guy in the black shirts face says it all Bet you he returned that Vortex haha Comment from : @falasteeny2745 |

How far out isthat target? Comment from : @HartHealthFitness |
Cheap one has terrible chromatic aberration Comment from : @brandondoza7159 |
Overall comparable Vortex does have a good reputation How do they compare over a greater distance? That’ll tell a lot My SVBony loses clarity and acuity beyond 200m Still fine for the cost Many thanks Comment from : @robertthomas3777 |
If only they knew what they were talking about Still a valiant effort Comment from : @peterbowler6524 |
Hello, warranty? You can buy x3 of the cheaper one Comment from : @rickyeng56 |

They're probably both made in the same factory with different glass specified by the company that's putting their name plate on it Comment from : @kevingeary1472 |
Chromatic aberration galore! Comment from : @peterwood2633 |
250 compared to almost 1500 That's a big difference if you would have tested one at 650 compared to 1400 it would have been more fair but you can't beat the $250 one for the price Comment from : @Michael-si2ln |
the svbony has a blue ting to the image Comment from : @bigfoot-g4i |
Vortex is way better, the cheap one is perfect for range Comment from : @Rangerglx |
The cheaper one has much worse chromatic aberration, clear sign of cheap optics Comment from : @kayomichael |
Would have been an enjoyable comparison if it wasnt for the fact that you use the scope to see wonderful animals so you can kill them and cut their heads off Comment from : @Lesfac |
The cheap one for the win Comment from : @maikp5505 |
I, like 99 of people, NEVER trust Vortex reviews The perception is they pay for your reviews This was against a product 1/3 of it's price Compare it to an Athlon and the Athlon will destroy it all day long I'd love to see that comparison by the way Put the Cronus against ANY Vortex spotter and it loses Or the Ares w this Vortex Vortex has JUMPED THE SHARK!!! (you millennials may have to google that term) brbr**This is the 1st video of yours I have seen, you both seem like honest guys, I mean no offense But I don't think ANYONE (in their right mind) believes a Vortex review at this point Comment from : @KevinWood44 |
🐻 - 😂😂😂 Comment from : @AliBaba__ |
It is not a Chinese Copycat, you naive "capitalists" It is "renowned western company" shipping re-labelled and slightly upgraded versions of things made in China, as if they made it but they didn't Comment from : @krzysztofbosak7027 |
Cheap vs "Expensive" High End spotting scopes are 4 grand More like Cheap vs Mid-Range Comment from : @samr3703 |
The SvBony's FOV is smaller because of a cheaper eyepiece NOT because it is 80mm Lens size does not affect FOV Comment from : @IndependentThinker74 |
Outstanding review guys Thank you so much from Steve in Suffolk England 🇬🇧😊👌 Comment from : @stevebygrave831 |
Thanks for the vid Clarity is better in the Vortex Comment from : @lddtyrone |

Ed glass in vortex note the absence of purple friging/ chromatic abberation Comment from : @exotime |
I'd rather buy two Bonys, and keep the spare in the truck No-brainer Comment from : @Jim-wr9iz |
Was it just my feeble eyesight or did the Bony make the target images look blue as opposed to the Vortex looking black? Comment from : @Jim-wr9iz |
The color is bad with the cheap one Comment from : @tomx7889 |
what is the warranty on the svbony? Comment from : @MeR-md1jq |
Also make some other videos on other sights Comment from : @shahidzaman4955 |
It's probably the Vortex made in China and the other is the Chinese copycat based off of the Vortex Comment from : @msa4548 |
What mount for your phone are you using? Comment from : @PyrateRumRunner |
Really bad chromatic aberration on the Svbony Comment from : @samgab |
size of field of view, and blurriness at the edge, and There will be a big difference in darkness Which means you may have to stop hunting an hour earlier if you should use a cheap version That makes a big difference in price Comment from : @cyclinggospel5307 |
and guess what they are all made in china but the ED glass will be the difference Comment from : @jktz122 |
Would I be able to see 30 cal holes on targets at 300 yards? Comment from : @InGodWe-Trust |
How far was that target? Comment from : @InGodWe-Trust |
Check out the bird watching forums, many of them have guides that are better than a sellers guide I liked this because it gave a real world comparison of the two the other thing that would have been nice to have covered would have been eye relief and exit pupil as they have an impact on how nice the scopes are to use Comment from : @antt5112 |
most of us just need to see bullet holes on a targetthe cheap scope is just fine for that Low light, some other challenging aspects will show more difference, but really thats to be expected Comment from : @wazza33racer |
Allways the same with this brand-voodoo Paying the multiple price for a few percent better quality In other words: Brand-victims are paying mostly for the name Comment from : @xylfox |
Chromatic aberration is what you usually get with cheap optics When it comes to lenses, you get what you pay for Comment from : @bovver6092 |

I just bought that razor 20-60/85 for $749 Comment from : @dakine9445 |

Xxbb S / Comment from : @brianyasvinski5205 |
Chromatic aberration is obvious on the svbony The colors get dispersed the vortex on the other hand has a cleaner true color The black switch to white without any color fuzzy effect (aka chromatic) Also The color of the target is pure grey (or pure black) In contrast, The target on the svbonny has a strange halo around the edge between the black and the white If money isn't an issuethat you have a very well paid job or something i say get the Vortex but if your income is in bad shape the vortex will severely hurt your finance Getting a vortex is like getting a zeiss lens , or a leicca camera or mcintosh sound system you pay, 4 to 5 times the price for about twice as good only Comment from : @reefgratos2035 |
Sure, but what about 2kms away on a stone sheep? Comment from : @braccobaby |
Great video, Thanks for sharing Comment from : @sidebyslide |
Expensive at $900? Try Swarovski or Leupold scopes North of $3,000 bucks! 😂🤣😂 Comment from : @CaptainCreampie69 |
Using them in low light would be the correct test Comment from : @danbernskoetter |
I have a Redfield Rampage Spotting scope, use friends Vortex Razor and Athlon Talos units Watching your video, I see the difference My Redfield is the same quality as the knock off with better edge quality The Vortex has greater contrast, minimal chromatic aberrations, higher resolution and almost absent that white magnified smoky haze from lower cost glass The improvements from good quality to higher quality glass are subtle and mostly noticed only by those who are obsessing about their scopes, or those with many hours on them What I saw was exactly what Id expect in those price ranges My friend’s Athlon Talos is a freakWhen I look through it, I like it better than the Vortex However, review videos Ive seen of it show images of what I’d expect at that price range I am skeptical all Talos are like I saw Really want to look through a second unit Comment from : @veniceog |
well they are both made in china probably the same factory Comment from : @dirtrider88 |
The cheap one is pretty good I think it's good enough for both hunting and target shooting Comment from : @liedebunker1253 |
Cheap one doesn't look decent, look at all color (purple) fringing in contrast areas Comment from : @ObelixCMM |
Great video I really enjoyed it Just an interesting development, SVBONY has updated the SV46 with Extremely Low Dispersion (ED) glass and dual focus It is called the SV46P ED 20-60x80 It has an MSRP of $329 I believe it dropped Nov 26, 2020 SVBONY also makes the SV 406P (also 20-60x80), with ED glass, but it has a replaceable eyepiece with a standard 125" interface, for those that like that feature I cannot afford the Vortex scopes They are very goodbr(Update) I bought the 46P ED one I mentioned above It is fantastic at 100yds, which is the only distance I needed to reach Thanks guys! Comment from : @shakyzeg |
Great Video i think the housing and designs are the same from mfg to mfg But the Glass is we hope to believe is the difference Comment from : @KalimbaSpirit |
