My little brother (now 36yrs old) has Downs Syndrome Love his extra 21st chromosome so much! Ok ive read the comments and took mine down, but we dont use words like deaf we say hesring impaired and non verbal, but my best friend's 2 cousins are hearing impaired and ive kmown them for 40 years They went to a special school to learn sign language and to speak and read lips they speak very well and read lips perfectly and they communicate with everyone They both have great careers and are married with children They speak and still use sign language they put theyte hands on their mouth so others can tead their lips theres nothing wrong with that, but mom is foing an excellent job alot of gamilies use sign language to communicate with their children aswell Mom it seems like youre teaching your child to speak, read lips and use sign language good for you mom Ive read some comments that arent correct, nut i thank you for sharing and wish you the best Comment from : @BonibluComptis |

Get a children's basic sign language book & show him the signs & the pictures correlating to the signed word When my daughter was born, I wanted to teach her how to communicate with me before she could talk so I bought one I left it on her bookshelf until about 6-7 mos, I found her sitting with the book (apparently she crawled to the bookshelf & was grabbing books (she loved being read to even when she was still in my womb) so I started to work with her a little early She recognized the bottle in the book along with other foods & was trying to imitate on her own We both are not deaf I absolutely loved that book because I could communicate with her & not get frustrated or upset about being a bad mom because I couldn't figure out what she wanted or needed Comment from : @kimstrickland30 |
