The downside:br- Your salary is capped compared to the corporate world, it won't keep up with the inflation Lately salaries have been going down due to insurance reimbursement cuts You'll work more for less pay the more you advance in your PA careerbr- Non-compete doesn't let you change jobs easily (you have to move and start over)br- Staff will treat you with less respect compared to docsbr- Patients will ask you when are you going to finish med school over and over br- You will have to see patients your doc doesn't want to see (medicaid, prisoners, etc)br- You will be called "mid level" even after practicing for decadesbrbrThe Up Side:br- You will have amazing loyal patients who would never trade you for a physicianbr- You will learn medicine and it will improve your own life br- You will have job security (not your particular one, but in general the field is growing, including other countries)br- You will spend a lot less time in school (no residency!)br- You can change specialties more easily than docs if necessary br- You can work part-time and still have a decent income

I wouldn't down grade the PAs because they know their stuff MDs go to school much longer and some PAs love their flexible schedule as well as spending time with their families PAs make pretty good money especially if they are in a specialty they love to be in PAs have a diverse of knowledge with different practices and aren't stuck in just one field Kudos for PAs because they know their stuff and if they no longer want to be a PA they can become an MD PAs are the highest of RNs, CNAs, LPNs and MAs PAs can manage an office by themselves So you PAs do have prestige, I am thankful of your profession, you all just went to school much less than an MD Proud of PAs, RNs, LPNs, MA and CNAs because they all make a difference as well as putting up with a lot of the slack too 😊🤗🤗

I love the thing he said towards the end "I can't think of too much downside to being a PA", however, I think the people who choose to go towards the PA profession do not care so much for the prestige and the autonomy is something that comes with experience and trust obviously but this was a great video Does not deter me from pursuing my goal of being a PA
