I went through boot camp Parris Island in 1985 When we got paid at the end, I completely forgot that there was pay I remember getting $900 They paid not in cash but American Express traveler's checks I remember that was a lot of money to me

Been think I’m about joining the army lately, but I’d most likely start as an e1 My concern financially is that I won’t be able the support my family I have no kids, just my wife and our dog, but we do have bills and other expenses that I’m afraid won’t be able to be taken care of if I decide to go I’ve seen so many things online that say e1 will make less that $2,000 and that’s not going to be enough for us I know that the long term benefits are great, but what about right now? I don’t want to have to have a side job while also working in the army just to be able to pay bills and have some extra money Is it really worth it?

Another way to sell it, if your gonna get sweated out in boot camp - it might be a skosh better knowing that there is another $700 being a PFC maybe that softens the bite a lil bit Ain't gonna be able to spend it so just cry in your pillow

How does one rate E-2 pay while in Boot Camp? I went in as a contract PFC because I had some college credits (This was back in 1982) So at that time, was I paid as an E-2 while in Boot Camp?
