All these people says they are getting 10-30k dollars My son was told the same He signed up before he graduated High school brbrAfter graduation the navy pushed his ship date 3 times He ended up leaving in NOV So missed the early enlistment bonus But he had a special rate that had a bonus so expected that one after A school After completing bootcamp he didn’t get orders for A school The navy is not sure they will let him go to it now If he has to rerate he will miss that bonus as wellbrbrSo don't count those bonuses until after you get them They might go away

Folks I just want to say please don't join for the money The right mindset is that you should be joining for other reasons but the money, bonuses, GI Bill, etc are all nice add-ons I say this because the Navy is much more than a job It's a commitment more than anything You sign up to commit for 4, 6 or whatever yearsbrI say this because if you approach it as a job like up at the mall or Amazon you will be miserable So think about why you want to go in It needs to be about more than just money The money and benefits are nice and you deserve itbrI went in with three goals 1 Travel I wanted to visit France 2 I felt that I badly needed technical training 3 Debt- I was working my tail off but still broke No civilian job that I found could help me with those goals at that time The Navy did and I am still thankful !

Sounds like you said that your "rate" is E1, E2 or E3 Nope That would be your paygrade which is tied to your rank Your rank would be like Seaman Apprentice, Petty Officer 3rd Class Your "rate" in the Navy would be your job

Back when I went in nobody got a bonus to join Strangely after bootcamp I did have some money saved up but it really wasn't all that much I made E3 coming out and E4 two years later I didn't really see my bank account grow until I deployed overseas for 9 months The seapay, family separation, war zone pay, etc really fattened up my bank account I was deployed on a ship in the rating of Electronics TechnicianbrSo in my case I was living paycheck to paycheck until that long deployment in year 3 brAt the end of my enlistment in year 6 I was offered a $40k re-enlist bonus and shore duty for two years I had also applied for OCS Nope, changed my mind after getting 5 job offers from big tech I did miss the Navy but it felt really good working 8-5 with weekends and all holidays off brEverybody's situation is different but that's my story

I served a long time ago 1996-2006 I believe that we shouldn't require our service members to pay for their entire seabag from their paycheck Considering you get a uniform allowance later Why do they make us pay for them? You don't make sailors pay for the fuel on the airplane that gets you there or to your school after So many examples of things we don't pay for yet, the expensive uniforms and the Navy have the most uniforms and uniform expenses is just ridiculous They should stick to BDU's and one dress uniform

I’m joining the Navy due to the enlistment bonus My recruiters say they have no authority to say how much or if any enlistment bonus but MEPs will let me know I’m waiting for MEPs to call my recruiter back after we submitted the family care plan I left the Army as an E-4, so I guess MEPs will let me know if I can get my E-4 back or not 😅
