If anyone is looking at their record collection like it's going to be their retirement fund, they're out of their minds Yes, some old records can be expensive, but the market is far too fluid to be considered reliable, in any waybrbrSimply said, enjoy your records for the music DO NOT look at them as a monetary investment Comment from : @BillAdams-fb3jm |
Why are people so concerned about worth? I don't care what mine are worth Never looked because I'll never sell I have them to enjoy Comment from : @SteveGorsuch |

I have a LOT of Brohms and Beethovan, Mozart's, Chopin, Joann Strauss' Tchaikovsky's, my mother-in- law left and others several Conway and Loretta Lynn, "old" Christmas tunes about to be moving soon! No time like now to sell Comment from : @sheilacape4794 |

I bought an album recently for $11 still sealed; on discogs it has 4 own, 2 want, never sold and none for sale, no uploads of it on youtube and no hits on soulseek I'm just curious how to get a gauge of how many exist and what it might be worth I did not buy it to try to flip it, it's just a rare album by an old school artist I like: Norman Luboff - Dream Time 1980 Comment from : @stiffspiff |
9:20 It's worth stressing the difference between a promo edition/release and a promo copy Many promotional copies are the exact same as the retail version, same label, same cover art etc, they just got a sticker or stamp on it In typical cases these aren't worth more (probably even worth less for some) Different label (eg white label) or cover art: now that's probably worth more Comment from : @zoltanszabo4242 |

Are Disney albums valuable? As a collection of two crates of every Disney production possible? Vintage kids albums as well? Comment from : @heathertyler6786 |
I used to buy a lot of records before 1989 and have about 30 feet Most were bought new but I did buy used records that were no longer available When buying used records I would shun the promos because they were from radio stations and were often worn out and beat up Plus they have the awful sticker on front I think promos should be worth the least Comment from : @drwisdom1 |
I have a rare Elvis Presley Moody Blue Black vinyl I have only seen 2 of them ever mine and another I should of bought Also I have a rare Carpenters offering album Any many more rare vinyl records Comment from : @song4you80 |

Great informative video, is it true that a 1st pressing from a bands country of origin is usually the most desirable/valuable? Comment from : @av_rob79 |
There was this great black gospel artist named Morgan Babb I discovered on YouTube I discovered him on a YouTube channel literally called ThriftStoreVinyl Loved what I heard and shared it with anyone willing to listen I think that was a mistake, because I watched a copy of the album I was sharing with everyone go for $338 While rare, it used to go for under $50 before I opened my trap about it Oops Comment from : @themarbleindex643 |
The bulk of what I bought growing up was Punk, Ska, and the like Just came across a very clean copy of Germs (GI) Not a first print, but very clean Comment from : @LYNCHMOB69JULY |

Just found your channel Mine was the original Beatles Ran into a Capitol record salesman He was going through a divorce I offered him $199 in 1970 He took it & I sold it in1997 for $2500 Comment from : @markgruner9510 |
Also, TRADING is the best deal Shop owners would rather trade than pay cash because it costs them less Real life example: I brought in a crate of 35 records and got $350 in store credit This means the owner is really paying probably $200 (before marking up for sale) Also, out of 35 records, probably 5 to 8 of them will make that $350 for the shop and the rest are "common" Comment from : @Pumpkin_Fart |

There is one question I have that I am waiting for someone knowledgeable to answer; Back in the 1970s, the word was that people with original doo-wop and rockabilly singles and albums were sitting on thousands of dollars But here we are in the 2020s, and some are charging that these records have sunk to minimal value and aren’t in demand anymore And yet some still charge hundreds of dollars for these records So which is it? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller??? Comment from : @monaural2988 |
The hot mkt now is to git payed to haul some ones collection away Comment from : @allenschmitz9644 |

This is so true Additional strong words or wisdom: Records are an interesting collectable at this moment in time, not a substitute or solution to a life time of poor financial decisions and bad career moves, period Comment from : @kristofftaylovoski60 |

My father was an audiophile in the ‘50s and ‘60s and I’m thankful he taught me at an early age how to properly handle and care for my records, among other valuable life lessons I still love you, Dad Comment from : @ptfantis |
Excellent information and an education in itself especially for those that think all vinyl records are worth big money, when they are not I do understand the vinyl format has become somewhat collectable and many people think any album by Elvis, Beatles and many others are worth big money when they are not Now don’t get me wrong but if its a nice clean original copy or sealed it can be worth some money, but not what people seem to think Comment from : @georgemusic4all4seasons |
In the 1970s I had a babysitter that often went to Bleeker Bob's in New York City and she'd bring me 45's as a gift I have 8 Ramones 45's in their original sleeves and with the prices on them I wonder what they are worth? Comment from : @BradThePitts |
Wondering, how do you know what pressing you have if you have a sealed album? Would you open it just to see what pressing it is? Just curious I like your video's lots of info, Thanks! Comment from : @user-rp6bn8qt1b |
I only buy records to listen to them not oh it might be with money a collection of anything value is what someone is willing to pay for it Comment from : @markthornton796 |
havent checked recently, but i believe that my most valuable record (according to discogs highest average) is "proud existence - the trail" which is funny, because its by a small band my great uncle used to be in (hes the guitarist on the album)! Comment from : @TychoVan |
Any value to antique records? Comment from : @CDT61352 |
discogs has taken on a life of its own without discogs record prices would be much lower For baseball card fans in the late 80s its like Beckett magazine The price guide says its worth $X so that's what I am selling it for Enough people are paying asking price so the trend continues Eventually will fall Comment from : @ummagumma7826 |
Discogs is getting over run with inexperienced money grabbers Same goes for most Record fairs too Ebay has always been a buy with caution site Sellers should learn the Goldmine grading system and be 100 honest Especially with rare pricey Records "I ain't got time for dat" Comment from : @festersuncle6298 |
The information was cool as always, but I really like the new lighting and the 'portrait mode' you shot the video in The whole thing looks more polished Comment from : @TaminoTheCat |
Hey Dillion I no you show us the grails and the good stuff what about like the commons like Jefferson airplane eric Clapton should that be stuff to hold on to sell ? Comment from : @blanebillington8946 |
I think it’s important to not get caught up when collecting on the monetary value of the records, like for me my most “valuable” record has more sentimental value than what I could sell it for as it was a gift from my aunts partner who knew I was looking for this frank and walters album for ages , so he got onto his cousin who’s the bands drummer and got him to mail over a signed copy of the album to my door for Christmas, by far the vinyl related gift I’ve gotten Comment from : @matthewjohncoleman4268 |

The 'sad' cases are the old boys who use price guides from the 70's/80's They think their 3000 vinyls are worth $30-50,000k, sometimes not even worth $100 Yes, don't throw away I buy 1-5,000 at a time from a record store, for packaging mainly Owner clueless about records, music He often thinks one is trash and it's worth hundreds$$$$$$ (I don't tell him of course!) Comment from : @miketomlin6040 |

I own one of the worst records ever made, it's also one of the most valuable lol Beach Boys 1992 Korean only promo Summer in Paradise I'm a completist and had to have it I paid $50 about 15 years ago, and thought that was outrageous Back in those days, vinyl was not worth big bucks It's absolutely mint and though the music's cheesy, I cherish it A couple sellers have listed it for 2 grand, but realistically it's worth $700ish Comment from : @dawnpatrol700 |
When selling to a shop, you must know that the shop needs to make a profit as well You can’t expect to get top dollar when it needs to be sold again This is literally how and why your local shop exists Comment from : @sixthplace6032 |
My records are valuable because I like them 😁 They are sentimental because I started buying 45s as a kid in the 70s Memories attached to these songs Interesting video I learn so much from you Thank you 😊 💓 Comment from : @catherine6653 |

Don't get me wrong, I love finding pricey records but I'm all about the sound quality My '68 VU&N with the banana sticker is cool but my '75 reissue (printed banana) is my favorite because it sounds glorious Keep on rockin' Dillon Comment from : @ab3000x |

All my Beatles are worth thousands; right? Comment from : @greghawkins229 |
Everyone trying to sell their records needs to watch this video I collect a lot of Beatles albums and there are so many that think the name "Beatles" alone means big money Like you mentioned, they are one of the biggest selling acts of all time, therefore their records are pretty easy to find and generally not worth a fortune Also, people that think their Mitch Miller albums are worth $50 each have no idea what records are going for😄 Comment from : @MarkP |

Great video mate Comment from : @ralphalder14 |

I only buy what I know I will actually listen to and try to not get sucked into buying as an investment Having said that, a lot of the vinyl I bought four years ago has already tripled in value Going from $25 to $75 in four years is a better return than my brother in law's Vanguard account! Comment from : @danielrhoden2973 |

nice arty camera work on this one ;) Comment from : @tobyroyce2278 |

The only time I want to know what an album is worth is when I am buying or trading An informed customer is a good customer Comment from : @donaldyurko1284 |
I don't know much, but I might suggest a couple thoughts:br1-Don't judge a cover by its bookbrThere can easily be a gem of an LP in a dud of a cover Either way, I have found The Eagles in a Dixieland cover If you have the time, check the condition of each LP and check that they MATCH! br2- timing is everything If Chris Slade died last week You might check your B stock for an old copy of "The Firm" because sentiment drives purchases And demand can swing on the twitch of a steering wheel in a rain storm br-✌🏼 Comment from : @Finn-McCool |
I’ll easily drop money on an album I want Just bought Zombies Odessey and Oracle UK mono because I love the album and will cherish it I think of it as an investment Comment from : @rocketman0515 |

People bring that stupid Michael Jackson out of a man antique shop all the time thinking we're going to give him $100 for itlol There was a girl that used to come into the antique shop that would weren't covers only and a couple times we had empty covers I'd sell her for a buck or two bucks a piece she was decorating a wall with them Comment from : @happyhippythevinylguy |
“Valuable” and “sought after” are totally different things I bought so many vintage records in my 20s because I figured by my 40s, they would be way more valuable The market so far highly disagrees 😂Some HAVE gone way up, but that’s 10 out of 300 Comment from : @nothingimportant4504 |
