The premium on them though Why so high? And the bank in Mexico doesn't pay you back the premium on the the bid :/ Nice video, though Thanks for sharing The name of that coin in Mexico is "centenario" (centennial) That's what it goes by as when you buy it in the banks Financial news outlets and tickers in Mexico daily report the bid and ask price of centenario right next to the stock exchange numbers, etc If you call it a "50 pesos gold coin" in Mexico no one would understand what you mean It's also a common way for Mexicans to stack gold and I guess you would call them the cultural equivalent of the gold eagles south of the border An interesting fact is by the Mexican legislation, all bullion coins issued by the Casa de Moneda (Mo), like this one or the Silver Onza Libertad, are legal tender for all commercial transactions redeemable for their actual market value by precious metal content You would probably have to have a long conversation to convince your local grocer in practical terms to pay for your tomatoes and get change with one of them, but technically it's legal That's why the Onza Libertad doesn't even bear a face value, not sure how the law would work for a coin with a 50 pesos face value Especially since we dropped three zeros from the currency back in the 1990s but I digress The Casa de Moneda Mint in Mexico City is the oldest mint in the Americas founded under royal decree by His Majesty King Charles I in 1535 Comment from : @EnriqueSamsonPhotographer |

Great video! 1947 restrikes are more “copper” color like the eagles bullions, and original ones tend to be more yellow like the buffalo’sbrAnd the minted ones between 1921 - 1931, 1943-1947 tend to have their “scars” toobr“Independencia y Libertad” are still strike on one side or the other at random Hope will help God bless Comment from : @mariokim4518 |

Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital no longer exists The Spanish Conquistador, Hernan Cortes had the city razed and built Mexico City on the ruins of the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan Comment from : @goldmaple4360 |
|
The eagle perched on a cactus eating a snake is a design seen on all Mexican coins It dates back to Aztec times when the Mexica or Aztecs moved into the valley of Mexico When searching for a place to build their capital, they saw an eagle perched on a cacti eating a snake They called the site, Tenochtitlan, which became their capital and would remain their capital for the next 200 years until the Spanish conquest Tenochtitlan got its name from Tenoch who was the leader of the Aztecs at that time Comment from : @goldmaple4360 |
