I initially did the big ticket buy, 150k into SCHD, 75k TSLA, 25k VYM, 25K VUG, AMZN 25K Now I'm dca buying roughly 2k every week of whatever is on sale, and looking to add more tech positions to my portfolio I'm looking to hold long term 15 - 20 years, so hopefully my lump sum buy in doesn't bite me in the ass long term

Stocks for the win!! As a beginner investor, I used a few things to really help expand my knowledge of the stock market in a way that was pretty digestible for a new investor I still reference it fairly often to get a quick overview of a stock to understand it's surface-level fundamentals by using an advisor, and I can't recommend that method of learning enough! I use Susan Kay Mack she is super helpful to a lot of beginners out there, thanks for sharing

You are not accounting for inflation when you compare incomes of intel/cisco Do that and divide by the 20 odd years and you could see almost zero growth hence the stock price

How can you, with the straight face, compare S&P 500 market capitalization with the GDP for a year? Index has set of most profitable publicly traded companies and does not include privately owned And over the time this proportion public vs private obviously changes If you want to compare GDP to index you probably need to find value added by each company Otherwise you are comparing not even apples and oranges Your chart is interesting but your read of it is absolutely wrong and misleading

What if Dollar cost averaging would have been done only at cheap markets below PE 19? I think that would provide much superior returns than buying during overvaluation If market is overvalued half the time than half of your money will make below average returns Im not surprised that stocks made good return using DCA Stocks were cheap from 2003 up to 2019 So out of 24 years you would did DCA during somethig like 17 years of cheap stocks and four years overvalued

Paul I am at 557 since inception2010 It was negative and I dedicated my life to the stock market @022 I lost 20 to 30 in each or four accounts Best years were 41 in 2021 and 4625 this year! Reality is there were only 4 or 5 negative years and 2022 wiped away all previous gains
