Question My spouse passed @ age 67 08/07/2018 I was 7 days short of turning 60yrs SS used the 60 yr age My claim was “lost” in the system for approx one year My verbal appeals to the amount of funds they were being deposited was exactly (which were exactly 285 less than my late spouses “retirement “ amount) I finally found my claim sitting in the local office It had NOT gone through processing Supervisor at local office shared with me that “I” was” declared disabled” by the State of CA Long story short, I’ve been appealing verbally, written, supervisor appointment calls etc I never get the letters I am inquiring about I NEVER received letter of disability approval from the DDS office and I never received the breakdown/amount of funds I should receive My late spouse only had 5 days with me prior his to passing, to give me instructions One was “ make sure SS calculates your income based on my disability, not retirement because it’s going to be reduced by age I am currently (while calling SS every month), receiving survivor’s benefits Per my late spouses and his “in person’ visit with SS, I should be receiving his reduced disability , not his reduced retirement I stayed home with the children so my work history is not strongWe were married for 40 years and I meet ALL of the Disabled widow criteria The supervisor at the local office faxed me a copy of all the topics we spoke of, including that I was found disabled by the State He did not, however answer the questions as to why I didn’t receive the letters from DDS and as far as my claim not being sent through processing, his reply was: “we didn’t know what to do with it ! Please help me understand this Thank you in advance I know this is long Thank you from all of us looking for answers from SSA Comment from : @lizcorbett9880 |

Although I am 60 and a widower, my income is significant enough that I wouldn't get much However, when I retire at 61, I might give it another thought, but I don't think it would be much Comment from : @sdleasia |
