I'm interested in teaching my 5 year old piano, but I ended up buying a 61key keyboard instead of digital piano Should I go ahead with the keyboard for now if the transition to the piano won't be difficult?

I began my piano journey just over a year ago before the pandemic hit As a retired person with a fixed income and limited space but a great desire to learn, I could never have gotten an acoustic instrument I have the experience of learning on my teacher’s beautiful restored 100 year old Steinway grand, but even that has been out the window with the pandemic I have been taking my lessons on Zoom and practice twice a day using Faber Piano Adventures for Adults on my Yamaha P515 and it is great No it isn’t a “real” piano and it isn’t a top digital or hybrid piano but it gives me what I need sounds good to my ears and has a good feelI also like the fact that it needs no maintenance

We had lockdown in Europe for much of the past year, so I used the time to learn to play the piano for two hours a day I ordered a keyboard online and the Alfred piano book for beginners I probably make all sorts of mistakes that would give any half-decent teacher a seizure, but I'm now on to Book 2 for intermediate players I can sight read music slowly now I think it's kept me kinda sane during a year of government enforced confinement A keyboard/piano is no longer a big black box it's a world of possibilities

We don't all have the space for a nine-foot grand piano, or the dosh The thing about a keyboard is that it's fairly easy to install You don't need to knock a wall out to get it inside
