Respectfully, BigLaw is utterly irrelevant for the great majority of law students and those dumb enough to even consider going to law school At most law schools, large law firms are only interested in students who are an the top 10 percent of their class (top 5 for very grade-conscious law firms like Cravath and Skadden) 9/10 law students will never get so much as an interview for a summer job with a large law firm in their lives As to the few who get those jobs, well, an associate starting in a large law firm can expect to make the princely sum of $50 per hour, pre-tax, with no overtime IRL, that is so low that the Public Defender's Office used to pay that to "Panel attorneys" but they had to raise it because no one was willing to take on cases for chump change Oh, and the average tenure of a first-year associate in a large law firm is just 4Y That means that many people will spend 7Y in higher education (4y college, 3Y law school), spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition, books, and living expenses, for a job that is over after 24-36 miserable months People who are interested in actual long-term careers practicing law, making real money for the time they put in would be well advised to stay far, far away from large law firms Comment from : @criminallaw9573 |

Are the hours you billed ( or for any associate) in jeporady if the client disputes them? how does that work when it comes down to hitting the "2000 hour requirement" at most firms? Once billed do you not have to worry about it as an associate and if disputed does the senior associte/partner be the one who deals with a client if that makes sense Keep up the content!
