Not sure the levels are anything to do with SMB3 at all They are all unique to this game SMB3 has much more generic worlds ML2 worlds is what they should have used as a base for NSMB instead of SMB

Just got on board with a q5 ips modded GBC and the colorized version of this game I can’t believe I never played this one as a kid, what was I even doing with my life? I’m having a blast with this one but MAN It’s brutally hard the way they take a coin away from you if you get a game over Punishment like that just doesn’t happen with modern games and it really forces you to get good, and fast

I remember buying this game, with my own money, the same week it launched It blew my mind how much it resembled Super Mario World (Not SMB3) and had the ability to save, like the SNES counterpart This and Metroid 2 were what made the Gameboy feel like a legitimate game console rather than just a car ride time waster

This game deserves SO much more love There’s just so many great things about it - fun art style, cute new enemies, interesting story, Wario, great music, and the coolest credits glitch/shortcut I have ever seen I hope with its addition to the Switch GameBoy app that more people will discover it (or at least that Nintendo will respect it a little more going forward)

Game Gear run shit circles around the gameboy, pretty much the same processor, colors and a terrible screen (which was colored though) It looked better on a lot of games but could it handle it? Not really, not better than the gameboy at least and always around a wall plug

O loved Land 1 and 2 when i was a kid Playing them against after years made me realizing 2 outcomes: i suck because controls are a lil lagging on Switch GB emulators OR i aged so much that i can only dream to do what i was capable of doing, almost naturally, as a kid

Just played it for the first time, on Switch It has better graphics than ML1, but the size of the sprites limits how much can fit onscreen at once, limiting the possible platforming design, which is why I prefer ML1 Glad I played it, though

Nintendo R&D1 resented having to work on a Nintendo EAD franchise, for their OWN console This was the team that created Metroid; the guys that goddamn invented handheld gaming They wanted to work on their own ideas, not make Mario spinoffs Wario was intended as a satire of Mario to express their displeasure, and they deliberately set out to undermine the standard Mario tropes in their games, which was taken to the extreme in the Warioland series It was all a protest against EAD and Mario taking all the limelight at Nintendo, and they had a point to prove by using their own ideas and not just copying what EAD had done

Hell yea this is an underestimated classic by Nintendo I spent many a chldhood day playing Marioland 2, Metroid II, and Wario Land while my friends had pokemon while they were trying to evolve their pokemon to their thrid forms i was facing off against Wario, Captian Syrup, and Queen metroid

Big fan of the Game Boy and this is one of the best on the system I know they went in a different direction with Wario but always thought he made a good alternative to Bowser There was even a comic in Nintendo Power about why Wario hated Mario that kind of made Mario look like a jerk Basically Wario was always made to be a bad guy when they payed cops & robbers so it was all a revenge plot Riveting plot I know lol

What I love about this game is that they really went creative with the black and white colored screen and went with an old cartoon asthetic with the music and rubber hose styled enemies It really shows how different it was from other Mario games Extremely creative

This is still my favourite side scroller Mario to this day The different areas had such distinct themes and the gameplay was great, especially considering it's a GB game Oh and it introduced Wario
