This is an acidic flux not designed for electronics work Do not use it If you need it in a pinch for plumbing, it may work fine but should still be inactivated once done - it's using sulfuric acid which will eat the metal if left You can find rosin cheap from china for nearly $1 USD Dissolve it in alcohol and congratulations you have a basic electronics flux If you want to turn it into RMA flux, add 1 of total solution weight Citric acid There is more to it but that's it in the most basic explanation

It's nothing secret all you did was waste your time making an acid strong enough to etch the clear coat on the ruler they put on so it avoids surface rust and looks beautiful, usually your soldering copper or gold and gold doesn't corrode so a simple cleaning with alcohol would be enough, and copper will just be your wire and I guess if your to cheap to snip off an inch exposing fresh new copper wire I guess you could clean it with vinegar Which is super effective So no this video helps you not with soldering, but making an acid strong enough to remove a thin layer of clear coat paint😬🙄

Cool but couldn't you just use some sandpaper or a file? I usually just wire brush the surface and it works most of the time I'm pretty sure the acid is just etching the surface so basically just cleaning and ruffing up the surface will suffice

In the UK there is a highly acidic flux called ( A8 ) you can use this to soft solder stainless steel AND ! Nichrome wire the fumes are nasty , so do it OUTSIDE and wash the joint , especially if on a delicate electronic circuit and NEVER put the bottle in your toolbox , or your tools WILL go rusty ( tried - n - tested ) DAVE™🛑
