My favorite portable is my CCRANE Skywave SSBbrIt's a little pricey, but for a radio its size, I feel it can't be beat It puts my Sangean ATS 405 to shame

What we really need is an AM radio that cancels out Mexican radio stations I have a CC2e Good radio but AM is ruined by Mexico Every AM station frequency is overpowered I'm in AZ to make it worse

I live in the suburbs of a major city, I also found that, yes I know this sounds obvious, that one gets better reception when the antenna has no obstructions between the antenna and the skybrbrFor example if one places the antenna in a bedroom, it is obstructed by walls, ceilings, floors In some cases depending on how close other buildings are to ones dwelling, the walls, ceiling, floors of the other buildings ALSO obstructs the signalbrbrImagine placing the antenna at the center of half a sphere and standing next to the antenna, you want a clear view of the sky at every point on that half a spherebrbrFinally you should place the antenna away from devices that can interfere with it like cell phones, laptops, desktop computers, etc It may help if you turn off all devices that could interfere

I have/had 2 tecsun radios and they don't hold up which makes me hesitant to get the 880 I had a pl-660 which after about 2 years would randomly start adjusting frequencies after a couple of minutes of being on The only explanation I could come up with was the microprocessor was failing I also still have a pl-330 but after a 2 foot fall on carpet the traces for the battery and whip antenna ripped off the board I had to use some bodge wire in order to fix it, but I was disappointed in the pcb quality for the pads to rip off with such little force I just stick with it since I only paid $30 for it and really don't want to spend more for a cheap digital readout with mw/sw capability I may as well pull out one of my good ham radios before I'll spend $150 on a Tecsun that may last 2 years

Save your money Buy an SDR radio Eton Grundig Satellit 750 is deaf and signal meter is under callabrated That my finding of it I also noticed after 2 years the volume control gave up by not working

I have a PL-880 While it generally works well, it does bnot/b work well if it is receiving power through the USB port There is so much noise that it is essentially unusable I have tried a large variety of USB chargers, and also tried using portable battery packs, all with the same result Running off the internal 18650 battery, it is fine But I get nothing like the battery life you were citing Which is why I wanted to run it with external powerbut, sadly, no A good radio, which would be a really good radio if they fixed this issue

Sorry, but you really do not know what you're talking about The 750 is OK The 880 has been superseded at least 2 years ago, by the 990x and H-501x While the 880 still has some great sound from its speaker, it's improved upon many times by the Tecsun 990x
