I remember these being in circulation I always thought the eagle looked a bit as if has lost a lot of feathers We used to call this fiver 'Silberadler' (Silver Eagle) it's follower, with the stylised eagle and nil silver content we called 'Pleitegeier' (bankruptcy vulture) I love these coins You drop one on the pavement and you can hear it It makes a high pitch, nearly bell like sound Love these coins and considering they only contain 7 grams of silver they have not done bad I paid £15 for one a few days ago Can't complain about that

I'm from Germany and I stack a lot of them Normally the premium for the normal 5 Mark coins is a little bit higher than for the commermorative coins You can still excange your Mark coins and Banknotes to Euros at the Bundesbank, so you can never loose all your money
