Synthesia just made me panic I can sight read and even though I haven’t advanced as much because of illness, because I can sight read, I can just go back to it I have a bad memory as an adult (partly also to do with illness) but my sight reading has stayed with me, I’m very pleased to say I’m also know that if I practice, I will absolutely and definitely get better I want to advance now

I follow the point 5 and this is the result Now i don't have to rely on lessons much i can play very complicated ones like microchip by patrik pietchschmann but one problem arises for me that my hand isn't that big because i am a kid of age 10 and second is that i don't have a 88 key digital piano which doesn't allows me to go very low or very high notes

I’m a selftought guitar and keyboards player since 45 years Chords sure are importance but in my opinion music lessons are all about execution and not about understanding music Understanding harmony makes it so much more fun to make music It doesn’t make much sense to tell people the I IV V Progression sounds good if they don’t understand why that is Seeing the relation between major and minor thirds in chords ( the building blocks) , not learning the circle,of fifths , but understanding it, being able to find chords and melodies from a few hand positions, seeing the symmetry in a scale Those are the most valuable for me now for making music

I think a good analogy for learning chords is soup You want your soup to have a good base that’s delicious yet not overwhelming Melodies and harmonies are the things you add into your soup, like veggies, meat and bread

I havent played piano since I was 14 Im still a beginner but I always keep the harry potter theme in my arsenal because it was the first song I ever learned how to play Im a fan of it and I can tell how much I have improved and understand piano by how i play it and read the notes Now Im learning chords because I want to make music and these videos helped me more than the 3 years I was learning piano They didnt explain anything on why things work

I'm about a month or so into learning now I practice the major scales every time I sit down, before continuing on in a book I bought I'm trying to keep a balance between just learning chords and actually learning if that makes any sense Chords are my reward food lol They give a bigger sense of accomplishment so I can make my way through "when the saints" without going too insane One thing I would add, because it didn't make sense to me at first, is that even 15min a day can be quite helpful Get too frustrated, walk away, calm down and try again lest you get so pissed you never want to try again

The video was really insightful! But I have some problem using the metronome I've started learning the piano only recently without any musical bg And I'm able to keep the beat when I'm counting but as soon as I start the metronome its sound distracts me and I lose the beat even more It's like it's very difficult for my mind to match my own rhythm with the metronome I can't simultaneously listen and understand the beat of the metronome and play by it What can I do?

I started to do all of that because I wanted to learn music theory, kind of crazy Like thinking about what I actually play, recognazing chords and LISTEN to what I'm playing and not just execute the piece Just the sight reading I don't do but I know I have to do that to improve brbrI never played seriously before but lately I did start to want to, so I'm glad to go in the right direction

I started yesterday instantly noticing that I know all this stuff, it will just take me a while to see the Matrix on the keys Like, guitar taught me an D9add13, so I know to incorporate D# and high A into a D chord, donzobrbrIt somehow feels like it's just a matter of activating the muscle memory to remember little licks, changes, phrases and 'glue notes' and that will, for me, almost be enough to do some rhythm work on the side - cool instrument, so heavily recommended for beginners as you press a button and a beautiful sound comes out That alone took me weeks on violin / trumpet / guitarbrbr Like, do you remember learning the F chord on guitar? Do you know how hard it is to play on piano? A literal monkey could do it in the first lesson No guitarist plays the full F in their first year, more than 50 of people owning guitars actually NEVER get it to sound I reckon As mentioned, really cool beginner's instrument

Most useful for me was seeing you play the chords of a C MajorbrI struggle with trying to find which chords and in which keys, and I’ve never realised before that it’s just whatever notes are in that scale😅br(Before I assume I bcan’t/b play a B in the key of C, because both minor and major B chords have sharps)
