Very interesting and very well presented Some English teachers and learners are all for "comprehensible learning" while some stick to traditional classic methods starting with vocabulary lists and grammar rules I feel there is no need to oppose the two approaches as they can be actually intertwined and complement one another I like to listen to English-speaking podcasts, I like to listen to English-speaking videos, and I do it a lot At some point though, some specific rules, some specific structures are to be put on the table and accurately analyzed What I call "practicing English in virtual immersion" is exactly this: a fair amount of time spent online llistening, thinking, writing, speaking, all this intertwined with clear presentations of details that matter: pronunciation features, grammar details, memorization techniques, listening techniques, writing techniques and more I'm an adult, I'm French, and I'm retired now There are so many people my age who don't want to lose their past ability in speaking English, there are so many adults who want to improve their English speaking skills: they would be happy to know that talented teachers like you can be essential in their journey towards proficiency and fluency They would be happy to know that there are much better ways - and fun and entertaining too - to speak a decent English than to lazily watch subtitled series Comment from : @jean-louismorgenthaler4725 |
