You kind of hinted at this but didn't make it explicit If you expect the fund to go up, (which you implicitly do-otherwise why are you investing in it) you're better off getting as much of your money in as early as possible with lump sum or monthly investments As you said, daily investing only won out here because the stock market was going down over time We don't know what's going to happen in the future but the expectation is the 10 average returns with short term volatility just as likely to hurt as help us if we change our investment period

The difference in your example is so small that setting an auto buy once a month makes you think about it less than obsessing about it on a daily basis People that are successful have a plan and stick to it long term They aren't successful by guessing the "best" time to put money into the market We don't know what this looks like 20 or 30 years from now, so just do yourselves a favor and just invest and stop over analyzing things like this

Correct me if I'm wrong but $5 a day won out in 2022 as the market dropped 20 Run the same example over 2023 and I believe the latter will win as the market recovered, meaning the more shares you were able to buy faster will give you a lower average costbrbrProblem is, we don't know what the market will do "next year"
