I've worked in bank fraud investigations for 35 years I want to retire and set up my own PI shop I live in North Carolina but from what I can tell, I can't be a licensed PI unless I've been in law enforcement, which is ridiculous Comment from : @christschool |

I started in field surveillance for insurance cases and the one thing that didn't cross my mind when I applied was that most of the cases are going to be in high crime areas It's not going to be Mayberry A lot of the people you're going to have under surveillance have bad driving records as it is and they don't care about doing 85 or 90 down a residential street You will easily lose these people and the easiest places to get them are at the residence, but when they go out it's a different story Comment from : @RADIUMGLASS |

You can do process server during slow times Investigate your subjects and because your pi tactics will work for you in this, you will be able to easily locate your subject and find their point a to point be and all the stops they make in between that are opportunities to serve them their notice Comment from : @rajj72on23 |

I just started working a field investigator for a large company doing work comp fraud investigations I have 15 years experience as a deputy sheriff of which I worked as a detective so many of those skill sets transer I must say, doing PI work is a bit different than cop work Database availability as a PI are limited compare to police databases but there are other advantages as well My short term plan is to work for this company for at least a year while I pursue my own Private Investigator license in California Once I obtain the license I'm going to take the plunge!! I turned down a job offer that would pay 19 an hour 350 for the use of my personal car, 25 dollar internet reimburtment I also have a 2004 honda civic, I spent 4k in car repairs the last time i drove it down to the city of chicago I'd also have to get my windows tinted to the legal limit however with the 350 dollar a month bonus, i could use that money for a new used car I'd also have to spend about 300 bucks for a used laptop with 500 gb and a decent processor plus id have to get a wifi router Did i do the right thing turning down the job offer? I couldn't be a private investigator because there are lots of good people that are being harassed by private investigators hired by nefarious people or corporations that don't want to payout for workers comp and intimidate people and follow them Also I can't lie and impose myself on other people's lives for money But, there are plenty good reasons to be a PI, like busting cheaters or law breakers who can't quite be caught without it, and also helping people get what they deserve from an inheritance someone is trying to cheat them out of, which all these good reasons is what intrigues me and keeps me interested in this field I also think I could get jaded finding out how many cheaters there are out there! 🥺 Comment from : @brendazabal2361 |
