If you're looking for nice ideas to give to kids of young/developing age I recommend just going for essentials or learning tools and avoid full toys and gadgets - even books would make for nice gifts to non book lovers as well since they don't have solid interests/hobbies yet If you do go for books, go for themed versions of it such as bpersonalised childrens books/b - same for other learning tools if possible to make it more impactful

I’ll never forget my daughter‘s first Christmas which was 25 years ago, she was only 11 months old, and it took her almost 4 hours to open all her Christmas presents She even had to have a nap in between After that year I swore I would never do that again and asked everyone to only give her no more than one toy and if they wanted to give another gift(the grandparents I’m speaking to now) it had to be clothing or a book

One year when my grandson was little, (he lived with me), when asked what he wanted from Santa, he would say: “yellow”! He stuck to that wish response, maybe he did not understand the question But Santa (me) searched and found all yellow things, a yellow snow saucer, a yellow school bus, Big Bird, and yellow shirt I couldn’t afford an over abundance of things, but this always stood out in my mind He is grown up now, 24, and still likes yellow This summer we were at a family picnic and he was doing crafts with his younger cousins……yep…using a yellow crayon!

If you still have leftover legos, maybe you could give them to a child who could use them That might be easier than selling them

I have some of my kids' toys that my grandkids enjoy playing for hours on end It gives my comfort and hope when they bring out my son's Playmobil sets because he passed away in 2012 and only met his eldest niece ❤️

Last year we had all the presents for my daughter from the whole the family at ours, due to covid It was insane how much she had and it completely overwhelmed her This year (she's 4) we've scaled it back and asked for family to mostly get her consumables We plan to go down the Want, need, wear, read route next year too

Having a hard time with this one Our daughter is 6 I want to pull back on gifts but my parents love language is gift giving They have only 2 grandchildren total and absolutely spoil them to death This year they already got my daughter an updated Barbie dream house (they got her one for her birthday last year!) and a $500 iPad That doesn’t include all of the toys and clothes I’m beyond grateful for their generosity but it’s out of hand At this point I don’t have to buy anything for her They buy enough for the both of us 😂 brbrI’ve really been enjoying your channel btw You have great energy and such a warm aura!

We always just kept the Playmobil here at Grandma's house, along with Lincoln Logs, Brio train, building blocks The kids played hours and hours with the setsThey've outgrown it now but I still have some I haven't given away for when a younger child visits Really depends on the child, of course My granddaughter was the one who played the most with Playmobil When she and a friend came over they built fantasy worlds and played so long together that I never minded all the little pieces But Grandmas have a different perspective I never buy toys for their house They have plenty of other relatives to do that We just contribute to the savings account
