Personally, I take my cans in; the aluminum is contaminated with paint I have hoards of clean, unpainted, aluminum Dollar wise, I think 2250 worth of cans, plus gas and time, is not worth it Comment from : @TiborRoussou |

All the people crying about the cost of propane should learn how to start a fire You can get a whole set up at home and operate for next to nothing, if you enjoy it, it pays off immediately and long term you have a ton of raw material that was otherwise trash Shut the fuck up Comment from : @cameronbachman8161 |

Nothing aluminum nowadays is made of pure aluminum, not cans not foil and NOT even most wire If you mean unalloyed aluminum that’s one thing (and you can’t get it by just deslagging) but pure aluminum is VERY rare and worth a good deal more than the (s)crap you melt and “flux” out the impurities Comment from : @joshp6061 |

hiI have a ton of aluminium cat food cansthey have a plastic coating on the inside will these work for ingots or will the plastic make a mess of things? Comment from : @vitusthemad3043 |

Basically it would double or more the price i could get for scrap price even if i just sold it to the scrap yard Cans are 39 cents a pound, pure blocks of aluminum are 89cents a pound, one could sell on ebay or amazon for 2 to 3 dollars a pound I flatten mine more than he does Could put at least 2 times what he gets in the crucible One question, is that a home made kit? Comment from : @jonathanfox3285 |

Hi I liked this video and subscribed What are you going to make when you melt them again? Looks like a fun hobby to learn Thank you Comment from : @bettymacallister3475 |

There are tricks to help efficiency like not emptying the crucible between pours, saving some aluminum to help melt the following cans before oxidization has its way I try to keep everything as close and organized as I can Time spent with lid open vs closed varies when I lack some experience And so on Now Around here an average propane fill is going to run around $25 brIs it worth it to me? I'd say brsure i mean is it worth it to collect cans in a bin for recycle? absolutely Would I use cans if I had no other source? yup Meanwhile do cans pile up next to my steel destined for a scrap yard? Yes they do brI'd have to crunch some pretty tight numbers, but it just about looks like I can sell cans that would require too much propane as I am equiped, to buy clean aluminum that would quickly melt (using far, far less propane) for future castings brDo I melt metal when I know it is actually costing me for the pleasure of melting and pouring? Oh ya But find the right "100 aluminum can made" product and serious profit can be made brIs melting your cans worth it?brI DON'T KNOW Comment from : @markturbeville5971 |
Looking for the type of charcoal to use for my melter but ended up in a gas melter video, I still have a lot to learn about myself Comment from : @jc_hz4196 |

So is it worth 2 propane tanks in expense to get 10lbs of aluminum? Comment from : @millerfamilyfarmtrust6515 |

Put them in a can shredder so they are cut up into small pieces therefore letting it melt faster and making it so you are able to do more cans in one go Comment from : @Gtavonline420 |

But the question was “was it worth it?” How many cans did you smelt to obtain that yield? Aluminum is $950 to purchase a 1”x2”x10’ bar That’s the same as the refund per 95 cans here in Oregon Comment from : @wreck_ignition7847 |
In Sweden, you get 1 sek for every 33cl can in all stores 1kr for 0,5l plast and 2kr for 2 liters Comment from : @justfilmit3412 |

So from authors explanations and actually seeing what he uses Reg used stuff is between 50-100 bucks American And that even counts the muffin pans Most can be picked up at rummage sell They are already drink x amount of cans of whatever That doesn’t even matter or count unless they pay more for trash service if they have too much He said that propane usage for this video was about 5-10 bucks which is about 1/2 tank when he made it End of the day, average everything out, maybe 12 bucks spent on this video, besides taping it Shut up people Do what you love to do brbrLove the content Love what your doing for many passions Love that you can teach everyone at the same time Comment from : @aaronblackford981 |

Here is a question, is it better to use propane as your heat source on a clay graphite crucible to melt aluminum cans or could I use say charcoal and a blow dryer Looking for some advice Thanks Comment from : @rogeliosanchez4221 |
Spends more in fuel to melt cans but doesn't care cause video is monetized Comment from : @five3ighteen76 |
Better off just taking to scrap yard as cheap as cans are your wasting money on melting them Comment from : @TheVinny360 |
Can you sell the aluminum blocks you make from melting aluminum cans as you show in your video? If so, how much do you get and that would be the answer to "is it worth it?" I would not include the cost of obtaining the empty cans since I use the product inside and will buy them anyway So the cost to me would be the fuel, containers and tools needed to melt them versus the amount I could expect from selling the final product Comment from : @tonyrobichaud |
How much you sell that for Comment from : @santanamoss1015 |

TBHbrReturning the beer cans to the beer store here in Canada is probably worth more than melting them downbr10 cents per can/bottle Comment from : @RyanStonedonCanadianGaming |
The way you're melting your cans is better than what other people are doing (since at least they're crushed) but it's still really bad You're surely losing a ton of aluminium to oxidation, and you have to add the cans individually which takes agesbrWith $30 you could buy a hydraulic car jack, some tubing to make a frame and press, and press them properly in just a couple seconds Comment from : @demoniack81 |
That's not pure aluminum, it's an alloy Comment from : @wiccanwanderer82 |

So for us non artists who don't have extra time or money the answer would be a resounding NO local cans go for 30 a pound, 10 lb block is 300 This is based on a lay persons observation and last week's can price at a local scrap metal place Comment from : @gsheac |
Maybe fashioning a bottom spout so as the aluminum melts it runs out, or use a big crucible Comment from : @DouglasDavis |
I'd like to make a coal or charcoal furnace to melt scrap, propane seems like it would be too expensive to do a lot of it Comment from : @ffjsb |

It's backwoods as hell but my lil bros dad would just drop a small rock in every can before crushing them to turn in 😂 worked without fail every time, this though this is a much more solid method 😏 Comment from : @alexanderharkins-m9h |

Be very careful melting cans before you make sure your scrapyard will buy ingots or slabs Most don't buy them since they are not sure of the content For every honest person there are those who melt lead or whatever into the aluminum Comment from : @bigmack126 |
And you didn’t even burn the crap out of yourself! LOL! Comment from : @alan30189 |
