Fully support the method Did that intuitively, made huge progress with 2 books only Though 90 sounds too high I did that with maybe 60 top Many words you can grasp from context Sounds like magic I know, it felt like that as well 98 is just regular reading with occasional lucky find to improve which I have now as a fluent spreaker Comment from : @Kleopatrasita |

Lately, I've been forcing myself to go through reading pain, or on the best days, intensive reading I try to pick up on "vibes" and the feel for the grammar to piece together the meanings in front of mebrbrNot sure if this is actually a good method or not, but it can be fun! That is, until the brain just can't handle it anymore Comment from : @grillinnchillin4009 |

I disagree about this Zipf's law practical usebrbrIn my personal experience from learning English, it only takes not knowning one single word for your brain to stop understanding an entire sentence (when listening to natives at least) Comment from : @xarevok |

A year ago I beglearning greek by only focussing on reading brNow I am reading the second Harry Potter novel and it has become quite an easy read brAt the beginning I was constantly reading texts of which I didn't knew up to 30 of the word and for short texts I'd still say, that this is 100 doable without being a pain, when you use the right tool - I am using LingQ brFor longer texts, such as books I'd stay under 20 Harry Potter has just about 10 unkown words brbrI just began writing texts and letting them be corrected by ChatGPT I'll have to say until now, this method works like a charm Comment from : @goldmund2902 |

Im carrying out a little experiment at the moment I've been using comprehensible input for spanish, and im at 800 hours My goal is 1500 by the end of the year, with no reading Ive started reading at the A1 level in Brazilian Portuguese and have now read 100k words Curious which language I'll be better at by the end of 2025 Comment from : @timothymurray1236 |

The sub vocalization part sounds really intriguing I've been learning german and my reading and understanding parts are getting better But I don't think I can say much so will definitely try this one out Can you share time based progress? How much it took you to be able to produce speaking? Great video btw! Comment from : @LerxnGerman |
|
Are you saying before I can understand 90 of the text, I should not read? I feel if you can understand 98, your reading shpuld be called improving, should not be called learning any more How many learners of foreign language learners know more than 90???brbrOr your key point is to find and read the materials at your level that you can understand about 98?brbrOr is your video is talking about comprehensive input? The video title is not very clear😢 Comment from : @harbin88 |
|

What’re your thoughts (and what does the literature say) about reading when understanding is closer to, say, 75?brbrFor context, it’s sometimes more ENJOYABLE to read specific material that may be well below that magic zone Is it still worth doing despite the loss of efficiency? Comment from : @jeffreybarker357 |
|
This is what I'm doing with the Harry Potter series in Spanish Reading and listening, sometimes at the same time The first third of the first book, I was having to look up quite a bit, but after that it got progressively easier I'm finding the same thing happening with the second book And the series seems to conveniently use more complicated language as it progresses Probably a good choice for learners Comment from : @shutterchick79 |
