Hi, Paul, great videos providing an insider view of the expat life in the Philippines You and other YouTubers with similar videos go out of your way to state that the very, very young women the male expats are looking for are not the reason for retiring in the Philippines Instead, you provide detailed arguments regarding less stress, less financial burdens, lower prices, lower rent costs and better and less expensive food, reasonably good and affordable health care, opportunity to save and a great young, lovely wife plus a great group of expats friends to socialize with And all that is great, and I am very happy for you that you found exactly the life in retirement you lovebrBut all these arguments you made very well, and very accurately I would say, are generally desirable to everybody, and should attract to the Philippines in retirement very many foreigners And if the excessively young women are not the main attraction to the Philippines, how would you explain that the vast majority of single foreigners retiring in the Philippines are men? I challenge you to make a few videos presenting single women (not of Philippines descent returning home) who are retiring to the Philippines There are many countries in the world with low cost of living, beautiful beaches and good health care where I see women retiring to, but not a single one in the Philippines And I would say that this argument is totally destroying the YouTubers efforts to say that nooooo, the very young available women are not the reason to retire in the Philippines 😂brMost likely, a female expat in her 60s would not marry a young Filipino man in his early 20s, and happily start supporting him, or having much in common to talk about, considering the different level of maturity, culture, etcbrSocially, the male expats in their 60 to 100 years old all hangout together, or with their Filipina wives, and single female expats would feel out of placebrSorry to bust your point!!! Considering that better cost of living is available in multiple other countries, less the very young women, that do not attract most of single men, it seems that the single extra advantage that makes the Philippines a winner is the beautiful, excessively young women willing to marry men 40 years older than them "Quod erat demonstrandum" Comment from : ABCD ABCD |

I've lived what others call a frugal life for some time, though I'd always thought i was living pretty well myself Stashed away more than I'd actually thought I would over the years, and some good investments Heck, even recently found a few accounts I opened and threw some 'emergency funds' into before, and thought I'd just ignore them until needed - forgot about them until I found the paperwork and getting ready to head over myself brMy idea of 'winning' was just waking up in the morning and being able to move Everything after that was 'icing on the cake' to me Just woke up one day and decided I just don't want this anymore, and it was time to change again So, 3rd time 'retiring' and thought I'd actually do that this time I'd planned to retire to the Philippines for a long time, and figured now was a great time to actually do that Just a couple items to wrap up, and missed my 2023 goal, but hope to be there by mid 2024, unless something really drastic happens brStay safe and belated congrats on your wedding! Hi Paul from the USA, I have to say that I have been contemplating a move to PI or Thailand lately I make enough to have a nice house, a few cars in the garage, and live well I wouldn't say I live great, but I live well That being said, like you found yourself at one time, I am getting tired of working to pay the bills I'm growing tired of not being appreciated and I have also been contemplating throwing in the towel and leaving the country I would think I am also not a loser as I already have it all, but I grow tired of working and feel like a wallet and not a person anymore I have material things, but feel I could be happier over there I just think there is more happiness abroad in Thailand and Philippines at a personal level, not a material level Maybe it seems like the grass is always greener, but I don't see anything to lose by giving it a go I have a while before social security will kick in, but I work and also get retirement pay from my previous career I could leave my work and still get a good enough income from my monthly retirement check to live abroad I guess I'm still on the fence about selling it all and leaving this place I like watching yours and other vloggers in both Philippines and Thailand as it gives me a glimmer of hope Keep up the vlogging and take care Comment from : shawn m |

You said it right Paul, push down by the bills! I have NOT done anything yet, and Sure I have already expenses that comes every year: State Taxes / Federal taxes/ Property Taxes/ at beautiful $5,500 dollars in debt Comment from : Orly Marq |

This sounds nice, but in reality, the only reason you & others like you are able to “retire in a third world country” is because you were born in a first world country Truth is, without your social security payment, you wouldn’t have been able to go and colonize a third world country The only reason the local women settle for older men is for the money Once the money is gone, so is the girl There’s no genuine desire Not only that, there are children and grandchildren to live for When my father passed away, he was surrounded by all of his kids and grandkids because he lived for us We honored him because of it That’s the ultimate success story Comment from : Vee |

I just finished a 30 day holiday in ph and this was my third visit and I was surprised at the level of depression I suffered at the end of the holiday I love the philipines and the people there and can’t wait for the last 11 years of my work sentence to be over so I can finally retire there Comment from : Sno Wolf |

Interesting outlook John but never forget where those American dollars are coming from to enable your retirement in the Philippines,I semi-retired in Thailand when I was 50 after 9 years of backward and forward trips the the Uk and spent that time building up finances back there to enable my retirement here,I learned Thai,I learned about their history and culture and how the family unit operates through taking my many girlfriends here back to their farms and meet and live for short times with their families and never disclosing i could speak or understand Thai and quickly learned they were good honest people,bUt one thing I never take for granted here is my successful working life back in the Uk that's paid for all the very happy years I've lived here and unlike you, I avoid most ex-pats here and spend far more time with the Thais, Talking to the young ladies here that work so hard to support their families Comment from : Louis Disbury |

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived This is to have succeeded" brbr- Emerson Comment from : Mark Reynolds |

Happiness and success are subjective well being Thus, the definition of ‘loser’ It shows ‘being a loser’ more to the person judging than to the person being judged as that reflects their values, ethics and attitude in lifeMost people only have regrets that’s why I admire people who go out get and work for what makes them happy even on their senior years as that takes a lot of courage and humility that a lot of people do not have Comment from : Fe Bron |
|
Come on Paul, you seem to get along with everyone If you have a enemy it's someone who doesn't get along with anyone or a person who is extremely selfish to the point no one likes him Comment from : MJ |
|
I believe the only thing an expat should worry about is how secure their retirement money is and is it enough Currently here on America the latest House budget proposal is estimated to cut about 20 from the VA budget along with many programs designed to benefit the middle-class and below There were no proposed cuts that would effect the wealthiest Americans Comment from : MJ |
|
Confucius is wrong We have this life and the one after We should live well here on the Earth good video I've been in the Philippines for almost a year I'm gonna go visit the States and come back visit the family And this is been a big learning process for me also But your video was very helpful I've had a lot of glitches here and a lot of good things also Comment from : Mike C |
|
Making more than 6 figures is meaningless if you are married, because you'll spend money like water trying to keep your wife happy enough so she won't destroy your life in family court I've tried warning warning a bunch of guys before they got married, but not one of them listened to me Comment from : Fred Walter |

"the commercialized, pre-programmed idea of success"brbrI don't think you could describe that any better And I'll give examples of success from a new wave of farmers in the US Can they pay their bills? Does their inflow allow them to do what they want with their farming business? If the answer is "they are moving towards that goal", the answer is yes Do these people need the same amount of money when they are raising much of the food they eat, especially considering how much food prices have gone up? The answer is no, but of course they have the issue of paying for land Do they enjoy the life they are living?brbrbrDo they enjoy the life they are living?brbrbrWell, if you can afford to enjoy the life you are living, I'd call that success any day of the week Comment from : John Doh |
