Warranty is only as good as the dealer and the supply chain Electric mowers are fine for SMALL plots, and Greenworks is JUNK Here in Florida, 100 hours per year is easy to rack up with 1-2 acres to cut because everything grows so fast There are weeks on end we have to cut every 4 days Maintenence is paramount to longevity Comment from : Rob Davis |

Quad Cities in the house! Comment from : Slim_Pickins63 |

Quick down the bad boy link and it was $4600 Wow that's a big difference Comment from : thomas s |
My opinion is anything with a B&S Vanguard or a Kohler is reliable The next thing is the deck and a stamped deck is just plain cheap and will last a few years maybe Look for a welded deck that will last for many yearsYes it will cost you more but even when you are talking cheap zero trurn mowers they are not that If you can only afford cheap buy a tractor yard mower from a dealer that services not a big box store Comment from : 546 cowboy |
I am sticking with gas for now Will the battery stuff get better? Sure But I am bought gas Stihl, Echo, gravely equipment and plan to get 10 years out of it I will let the rest of you guys do the quality control Comment from : Christopher |
No they’re Not worth the price Quality will always win out One thing that should be considered with a zero turn is that they’re Very rough riding, hard on the kidneys and back Comment from : Guy H |
No one certain zero turn is necessarily going to meet your individual needs Acreage is very important but also as important is type of terrain Large level well-drained areas you can use a heavy wide decked mower I have seen many times heavy built mowers early in the mowing season rutting yards getting stuck There is an advantage to a lighter zero turn With proper maintenance and care a deck of 10 or 11 ga steel will last for many many years Comment from : Robert Pickering |
SUPPORT GAS We have endless amount of liquid gold (fossil fuels) in the ground right here in the USA All this battery tech only support China Let's help ourselves, say No to all this Go Green electrification nonsense Gas is proven reliable and it really is NOT polluting This Climate Change carbon neutral hysteria is nonsense I'm a U of F engineer, I know what I'm talking about Comment from : Antonio Rey |
I am in the market for a new z-turn I just saw Scag has a new electric mower The battery is built on the machine, but they are spendy I have a Scag Turf Tiger sitting in the yard now that only needs gas, and a match One thing I have learned in my search is to look at the axels If the part that extends out to the tire is plastic don't buy it A bad history of breaking Comment from : John Cline |
here in new zealand mowers are way over priced so there are thousands of contractors using these cheap mowers instead of walkers etc Comment from : Kiwitown mowing |
I look at those Ego zero turns every time I go into Lowe’s Price is hard to swallow But also the fact they have the cheaper stamped decks But do like the thought of no gas, spark plugs, or oil to mess with Comment from : Aaron Fox |

I have a Z726X Kubota got it in 2016 and has 3003 with a Kaw engine 801V Nothing but a POS Two coils,Starter, a Fuel pump, and a spindle that I was told should last 1000 hrs Cost me over 12K I got it because the sales guy who is part owner now told me I would not have to worry for years and 1000hrs before I put any money into it I tries to trade it in and they had the balls to offer me 420000 for it Never will I buy another Kubota Lawnmower It's funny I never see a Kubota on a lawn care trailer Comment from : Tom Berry |
Not one comparison of one of the most critical components The transmission Just a lot of jaw flapping here There are better reviews to be seen Comment from : Gary BAUMANN |
I recently bought my first zero turn mower after looking at specs and comparing mowers for days I bought the Airens Ikon 52 2023 model for $3999 Just seems to me if you’re going to spend over 3 grand on a mower might as well spend a little more and get a fabricated deck, Kawasaki engine and good warranty Last Sunday I noticed that Lowes had my mower on sale for $3749 so I took my receipt and headed to lowes they price matched the sale and gave me $250 back in my pocket awesome I don’t know if you could find a better machine with better specs for $3749 Comment from : Travis Edmiston |
The tractor snapper 42 has 23 hp pretty awesome for a tractor mower just as strong as zero turns Comment from : phillip whitley |

You had me on the great reviews until you went full send on the electric mowers with no talk about run time, battery output as it gets close to being out of battery Big fat down vote for you! Comment from : Brad |
I think the speed is determined by the transaxel not the engine size Those are all gonna have the cheap self contained ones My worry is that those can't handle the weight of a rider over 200 pounds My biggest question is can one buy the cheap mower and upgrade it to the beefier servicable transaxels Will they bolt in place of what they come with? Comment from : fly one |

Kholer is supposed to be industrial grade yet I've always had sh!tty luck with them on everything from compressors, mowers, asphalt rollers, and more Honda is the way to go Comment from : Technical Items |
I own, operate, repair my own heavy equipment Lawn mowers seem like junk from my perspective Crazy design flaws and set up to fail for the consumer The zero turn left and right handle is BS They can make that work with a tiny joystick for on the left hand for way less money and more practicality The but dummy sticks are just a way to make a tangible object in the eyes of the customer It's like a spoon fed design to make the operator see his operating movements in a big way I guess a joystick would confuse the average consumer operator and require hand and eye coordination??? Comment from : Technical Items |

2023 John Deere Z330R/54"/23hp Kawasaki here, can't wait to grow old with this thing Could not be happier Comment from : CRUSTY DRIBBLINS |

On the subject Last year I bought a mtd/yard machine zeroturn mower with a 22hp engine, 42 inch cutting deck and a 4 gallon gas tank With extended warranty it ran me about 3400$ Comment from : James Bartle |
Fabricated deck are use in commercial grade zero turn decks I have a fabricated deck, not cheap thin stamped deck! Comment from : Harry Wild |
I have had several zero turn mowers and always buy commercial grade for my home! Dealers already stock the parts and it very dependable Residential according to the mower mechanic is total junk!😮 Comment from : Harry Wild |
Does anybody have a spreadsheet of the cost breakdowns for the push mowers and batteries/run time? I know I saw somebody make this but can't for the life of me figure out where that was or what channel Comment from : Sheldon Wiebe |
what about the steering wheel zero turn cub cadet? some even have welded decks Comment from : Josh (saethe) |
Husqvarna! I hope that your frame, transmission and deck are far more better than on your older tractor mowers that are not that old That has put a bad taste in my mouth after bragging how i really like using the 54 in unit Comment from : mydamhouse |
I have a flat 3/4 of an acre I don't need a big mower, it can be 30" but nothing bigger than 42", because right now I use a push mower, while that is great for a excellent work out, I'm not getting any younger (60 yrs) and anything is better than walking for 3 hours especially in a North Carolina summer By the way, I don't need to have a Zero Turn mower, just a solid and not expensive vehicle Thank you for your suggestions! Comment from : Erich Von Molder |

90 min run time for battery does not compare to gas as gas can be refilled in a couple of minutes Plus what is the life of a battery? 4 years? Comment from : Tony Sheerness |
I can’t fit anything wider than a 42” deck through my fence gatebrStamped decks for me😁 Comment from : takenusername |

Had a JD lawn tractor (D125) which worked great for a one acre lawn with lots of trees and some slopes Had a family member suggest a zero-turn was the best thing since sliced bread, and I needed one Well I eventually decided to get a cub cadet ZT (MTD + Kohler) and sell the JD tractor Mistake The ZT just cannot handle going on even the slightest slope - and forget it if the grass or dirt is damp or slick It will just slide & skew down the slopebrAlso, #1 dirty-little-secret of “zero-turns”: you can’t actually do a zero radius turn without tearing up patches of your lawn due to the way the tires have to pivot to perform an actual zero turn Not to mention that it vibrates like crazy, and kicks up an inordinate amount of dust/dirt compared to the old lawn tractor So ZT is a big dud for me Comment from : Jens Jensen |
A couple of years ago I laughed at the prospect of electric power equipmentbrI ain't laughing now Comment from : Kalashnikova762by39 |
Stamped Steel is the word you were looking for Comment from : James Copeland |
You really need to consider the transaxles when talking about zero-turns Many pro-sumer models, like the Bad Boy and the Ariens have the better heavier-duty ones with replaceable filters, which will FAR outlast the lower-grade consumer models which all seem to have weak transaxles Once the transaxle goesyour screwed So look for transaxles with replaceable filtersas they are the heavier-duty longer lasting ones- and can be generally had on the 50" and above prosumer models for around the same price as other manufacturers cheesier consumer models Comment from : Bobby Libertini |
Actually it was the SINGLE cylinder Kohler Courage engines that had the problems The V-twin Courage engines were fineI have a 25HP one on an '08 Gravely 60" ZT, and it's still going strong mowing 6 to 7 acres every week 6 months out of the year that I keep mowed off as a lawn Comment from : Bobby Libertini |
Chickanic said a lithium mower caught on fire at a showing They had to bury it because they couldn't extinguish it Thank you for your reviews Comment from : Inn Deep |
I just got a CC at a CC dealer (instead of HD) Got the ZT2 with 50" fabricated deck and 23HP Kawi engine for $3500 (was the regular price) It sounds SO much better than the Kohler or B&S engines Comment from : PhotoBobBarker |

Great follow up from our livestream Monday nite I like that Bad Boy also, My main go to was the Ex-Mark with the Kawasaki and Briggs and Stratton Vanguard commercial line engines , Even though I am a Briggs dealer , I like the Kawasaki also the prices I was showing competed well into the overall average Take Care Mon Ami Comment from : Cajun Coin Hunter |

thanks Comment from : Michael Watkins |
I think the Snapper in the pic had a welded deck That’s a plus on it even with the smaller engine Might explain the price Comment from : Adam Boozer |
One of the problems with ZTRs is people run them too fast The idea is to cut the grass not lay it over I've run that and 3 deck Jacobson mowers that run roughly a 90in cut I'll take the big deck I got in a lot of tight places by raising a deck or 2 Comment from : BWs Electronic |
RedMax should be on the list Comment from : Hamletaco |
No buy once cry once kubota 1211d or better, worth every penny!!! Comment from : OrionRulz |
10 or so years ago I bought a Hustler 42” with a 17hp Briggs Engine lasted two years Replaced the Briggs with Kawasaki twin cylinder and have had no trouble since Mower was $3,00000, Kawasaki engine was $40000 Just bought another 42” Hustler with a Kawasaki for $4,00000 for my daughter The decks are welded steel, not stamped There are other cheaper residential (entry) Hustlers that have Briggs, but I would stick with the Kawasaki Comment from : johnthreefifteen |
My experience is about every manufacturer has roughly the same at similar price, i’ld skip the big box store and buy from the local dealer, plus you can probably drive it before you buy it Or use your veteran discount at BB for a JD Or take a vacation to Montana or Alaska and buy it, what you save on sales tax might pay for the trip😂 Comment from : Stewart Campbell |
Home depot online has toro time Cutter with welded deck and a kawasaki Great mower Comment from : Hot Dogs |
Sorry I'm a Virgin to an old scenebr Could you do a summary of the best of both worlds for the Prosumer professionalbrGas and electric Comment from : John Timperley |
When the electrics get up to around 5+ acres and I can use attachments like a snowblower like my current JD lawn tractor, I will be all over that particular lawn tractor All of my smaller equipment is battery Comment from : covishen |
Love the video but don't know why you talk about the biggest issues with any entry level mower The transmission Comment from : drew |
For 5 grand ryobi mower, I can buy a Exmark commercial grade mower instead LOL Comment from : leeit2me |
Okay, now for the big question: Any suggestions— besides storing it in a shed — for discouraging theft? Comment from : Karen Stein |
I'm not really surprised that the Ryobi is lead acidbrI work in the same town as the SB&D headquarters They cut the grass of every business in the town for free In the late 2000's (2007-2009 some time when they were still MTD) they were testing their tractor style mowers with like 4 car batteries on a pull behind trailer Comment from : Moe J |
I just purchased a Bad Boy MZ/Magnum 54" up here in Maine it has a Kohler 740 rated for 25 hp not bad huh? Comment from : Frogwhistle |
I bought a Cub ZT1 50-inch cut, Fabricated deck, 25 HP Kawasaki back in 19 from HD Paid about $2300 after the military discount 6 inflation my ass Over 100 hours now and it's been a great mower so far I keep up with the maintenance and don't abuse it Cut about 3 acres weekly over the season April-Oct Also, have a Craftsman Pro 54-inch with the Kohler 7000 26 HP 250 hrs, no issues so far Comment from : J Wathen |
Don’t buy the husqvarna… they are problematic Comment from : wBlr IE |
Bear, beware of the horsepower rating For push / self-propelled mowers everybody was lying After a class-action lawsuit they are not allowed to list horsepower only easily verified measurements The measurements include; displacement and torque I would assume they might be a little loose with the HP rating on these zero-turn mowers as well Comment from : John Smith |
24:20 they doubled in price over the last few years Comment from : Saigyl |
I like electric mowers but Those Egos are the WOOOOORST designed mower I’ve seen in person 😂😂😂😂 the rear reminds me of Aunt Fanny from the kids movie ROBOTS 😂🤣 currently shopping for a zero turn under 4k and I didn’t even think about tractor supply Awesome deal on the bad boy Comment from : Starnes and cars |
I'm surprised you didn't mention the electric cub cadet zt1 Comment from : Brad Michaels |
I have a small lot and as I age, a small ride on could be a good move A zero turn just seems perfect for the ins and outs at the edges and a small lot is mostly edges I would love to see a small hitch to pull a small cart that holds a few bags of mulch or perhaps a few tools And electric can make sense though my gas engines and I get along well in New England thanks to Stabil which I use ALWAYS! Comment from : Paul Sylvester |
Hi brBriggs quality engine is a Vangard series , engine is repairable Parts Japan /China/ USA brKohler Command Pro is there ""best "" engine ,only partly repairable 90 engine made in china Comment from : Paul Thompson |
I have a hustler renegade with a Kawasaki engine and other than maintenance and just had to get a battery it’s been fantastic for 3 years Comment from : James Blanton |
There are a couple of youtube small engine repair shop channels that go over the common problems with the entry level ZTR's - transmissions and spindle/stamped deck issues are most common I have personally had Much better luck with the Kawasaki engines over the Kohler or larger HP B&S ones Hour meter got broken on my rear engine JD GX70 w/ Kaw 9hp at 1,920 hrs, and is still running great Bought a Cub Ultima ZT1 w/ Kaw engine last year (wanted a Bad Boy, but after over 5 week wait for backorder delivery, needed to get something) pretty happy with it, and Cub had a 0 interest for 36 month financing offer which was nice Biggest complaint about the Cub was it didnt come with hour meter ($40 add-on kit), that I feel is a necessity for tracking maintenance Comment from : dave Bunkus |
