A coin without a date is barely worth face value The date on the teens dates, the date was the high point of the obverse Was slightly changed in 20’s Is why Buffalo nickels of the teens often have the date worn away It leaves a spot but often the date can be deciphered

I would just get a really good magnifying glass and try my best to find it without damaging the coin yeah It might be dirty and rubbed off but if you put any kind of products are clean the coin it does damage the value extremely especially when putting chemicals on it

I like the Buffalo nickel; it's my favourite design Unfortunately, it's 75 Cu, 25 Ni, so only base metals (although inflation will eventually cause the five cent piece to go the way of the dodo) If only they had been minted in silver as dimes or preferably quarters I also regret that in more modern times, Buffalos were chosen as for gold eagles; I wish that the US mint opted to use them for silver eagles (which would be much more affordable)
