Listen Len, you can save a little extra work there is you type Restore in the Windows search window (above start button in Win 7) or in the wide, gray window in Win 10  That cuts through all the BS of going through Control Panel to get Restore Mode up and running  I can't tell you how many times I was forced to roll back my OS because of buggy upgrades or such  Never though from a virus - not that it couldn't happen to me  Never say never, right? I have a better solution never use windows , use a linux version like ubuntu 1404 or  linux mint 17 ( very similar windows look ) and use the tor browser anonymous surfing , no viruses no tracker no "james bond" is watching you ;-) Comment from : @MrDBSea

I'm curious why your computer only has one restore point Don't you have a 2nd partition? My computer offers at least 50 or 60 restore points going back as far as 9 months I've used restore about 8 times since I bought my computer and it seems like the more you use it the less files you lose The last time I did a restore about 3 months ago I got everything back except for some music files Some of it was moved to a different location but it was all there with the exception of some mp3 files I had about 1,300 mp3 files and only got back about 750  Comment from : @ldchappell1

New virus does not let you start up your computer in safe mode It simply restarts your computer I have windows Vista and just caught the virus today's didn't let me do anything to my laptop let alone restart it in safe mode All I could do was just turn it off and turn it on I did manage to get it fixed!! Once I restarted I pressed the f8 key repeatedly Instead of entering the safe mode I simply entered "repair mode" Once I was in repair mode my computer allowed me to back to an earlier date You have to click repair mode There you will get a pop up, click on a date before you acquired the virus Click enter and you should be all set Comment from : @biancaalvarez6187
