A couple years ago I worked at a gas station and a lady paid with a 1928 $10 bill gold certificate and I bought it out of the register it was in really rough shape and I wound up giving it to a friend

The first large head bills of the late 90s weren't around long before they redesigned them again in the early 2000s, they might be worth a lot soon, i never see them in circulation anymore

John Caldwell Calhoun is my confirmed 1st cousin 8x removed and I have a funny and ironic story about how i found out I was related to him lol so I’ll keep it short So basically, when I was 11 in 6th grade I started making fun of the guy on how he looked and many years later I was doing family history on my dad’s side and I found a 6th great grandmother who was a Calhoun and she was a paternal 1st cousin to him and when I found out I was shocked and I’m still shocked after 6 years of me finding out lol

9:30 If you can find one of those from 1928, the "lawful currency" clause is replaced by a "gold on demand" clause, making them a kind of defacto gold certificate even though they're titled as federal reserve notes

Nice collection I never knew about the red seal's meaning (vs green/blue/brown/yellow seals) Thanks!brbrHistorical note: The fractional currency was printed in the 19th century because of a general shortage of coins in the country - especially out west As that problem was resolved with more mints out west and higher coin mintage, fractional currency fell out of use (The politics about gold vs silver during that era is kinda cool to read about, too)

Those types of dollar bills have been rare since 1999 Also, I don’t think we Americans typically refer to paper money as notes (or even banknotes) By that, I only mean that you call paper money by what might be a less common name in the United States, not that you say it wrong

I have a Republic Ireland 10 silver bond its got 11111 number on it but I don't see any dates it's very frail and the edges are bent so it's not flat on the sides Any idea what the value might be?
