He abandoned his ,,perfect" Galvatron form beacause a normal truck is not the fastest alt mode that you would want to have as the leader of the Decepticons so he got his original Megatron design for a new alt mode, that being the cybertronian jet❤

Galvatron’s body was also powerless because you can see clearly by comparing both fights against Optimus prime when he fought as galvatron optimus prime was beating him , however when you see him as megatron in the next movie even when Optimus cut one of his arm, megatron demonstrated to be stronger because with only one arm he was able to take Optimus prime down to the floor

Essentially Megatron was brought back from the dead in a Frankenstein body, made of the pieces of his fallen allies, made by an alien species that wants to control him He escaped and was given the opportunity to upgrade to true new body from his own species Also with a Cybertronian Altmode that he was more accustomed too He finally reached a point that was close to his peak in TF 07

I think the reason why he traded this form is due to the flaws it may have like perhaps the body may also be pretty frail an brittle despite being able to turn into a wave of nanites might seem cool but lets not forget that the humans just now discovered an recently started making these forms not fully understanding what flaws this might have My other theory is its kinda like cell from DBZ he has a body but its no ware near perfect nore at its strongest plus his soul its not really all there just an echo a phantom of the real Megatron yes his body got new capabilities but it doesn't mean he's truly himself i don't know how to actually explain this to anyone im not very good at talking at all even though i try
