Dear David Bennett, I congratulate you for the work you have taken to explain in such a didactic way the different types of voices I am a huge fan of The Beatles and I wanted to ask you what type of voices Paul McCartney uses in Dr Robert from the album Revolver and in The Ballad of John and Yoko I have noticed that the voice he uses is not a third one, what is it called and if you could dedicate a video to it at some point explaining this specific case I also take this opportunity to congratulate you for the explanation of Double Tracking and the ingenuity of the Abbey Road Engineer Greetings from Argentina Comment from : @eleucos |

I’m a huge Beatles fan I love driving with the Beatles Channel playing and singing along trying the different harmony lines brbrIt’s even more fun when my wife is with me She’ll tend to take the melody line, and I’ll grab a harmony line A great example is the bridge on We Can Work It Out I’ll grab John Lennon’s line Good fun Comment from : @kevinmoulton2480 |

There could have been so much system of a down 😔 Comment from : @carolclare6160 |

Simon and Garfunkel "Scarborough Fair" Comment from : @MaraDimitriou |
My absolute favorite song featuring counterpoint has got to be "Lida Rose/Will I Ever Tell You" from Meridith Willson's "The Music Man" The opening part is performed by the school board (played by a barbershop quartet) in typical barbershop rubato acapella style This section describes a man and his love and simple love song for his Lida Rose The next section, after a upward semitone key signature change, is sung by our heroine, Marian Paroo She sings about a newfound love for the story's con-man-turned-hero, Harold Hill, whom she was JUST about to turn in to the mayorbrbrAt the end of her singing, she goes da capo for her part and as she does so, the school board comes in, producing a wonderfully unforgettably beautifully harmonic fabric of music Comment from : @kattphloxworthych |

Please analyze why the hell vocal harmonies of any band are beautiful but for some reason beach boys is like the sound angels sing to you when you enter the gates of heaven, whats distintive about them? What are the techniques used when it comes to voicing? Whats about music theory? I know brian wilsen uses a lot o modal interchange Comment from : @matheusferraz486 |

Hey David, I grew up on CSN&Y and Grateful Dead (American Beauty and Workingnan's Dead) got into bluegrass stuff and fell in love with Manhattan Transfer brbrI have the "knack" of finding the "other" part I practiced by singing the missing parts on Simon and Garfunkel and the Everly Brothers Love the Band and Little Feat harmonies That Three Stooges method " Heĺlo Hello Hello 1 3 5" works wonders Comment from : @ElliottBarra |
Great lesson! Great examples!brAnother example that comes to mind of a main voice that becomes backing vocal and a backing vocal becoming the main one is in the third verse of “ Let Down” by Radiohead It has always been one of my favorite moments from them Comment from : @agraciotti |
My favourite song to you these techniques is "Scarborough Fair" by Simon & Garfunkel Comment from : @Allegro11Maestoso |
Easy to answer your question, anything by the Beach Boys I've sung and recorded so many of theirs, as it's such a joy layering all the various types of harmonies and backing vocals Another relatively modern example of well executed and well structured hatmonies are Blink 182 They do an excellent, circular, 'Row, row, row your boat' style set of harmony vocals at the end of their song 'Feeling This' Which I've also had the pleasure of recording Comment from : @tjordulf |
The old guys smile when he recalled John Lennon being the most impressed with his discovery/invention warmed my soul, he’s probably so proud Comment from : @jacobdavis4017 |
Midlife Crisis by Faith No More has this overlayered choruses, that are introduced previously and they are so, so different and compliment each other so well Comment from : @ambientfolklore3004 |

Because by The Beatles and 10CC Im not in Love are very complex vocals Obviously a lot of production and recording tricks are used alongside the mixing and mastering process Took a lot of skill Now it just gets auto tuned and processed through a DAW to turn out Junk Food 😅 Comment from : @Jhon-kv8kljtm60 |
Somehow, Bulgarian choral folk music sticks heaps of minor seconds (two vocal parts momentarily a semi-tone apart) in there and it sounds amazing Comment from : @fromchomleystreet |

I've been fascinated with harmonies, and have performed, for better or worse, trying to emulate legends of music What I haven't investigated was why it seems that siblings have great harmonies almost naturally brbrI'd be interested in your exploration of this subject, sort of spinning off of this particular episode Thank you for your fascinating videos Comment from : @johnnyseg754 |
I want to know what notes they are singing in the harmonized vocal only part near the end of BTO's Takin Care of Business Comment from : @terrykosowick594 |

So the art it’s to blend and choose which type of voice to use I would add when the same line is stacked at the beginning creating a interesting effect Comment from : @rblc86 |

How about the Sum and the Difference? When two different notes having a common denominator of frequency/wavelenth are played, they create two more notes with a lowest common denominator, and higher octive multiples Harmony? Ask my cochlea how it works 😉 Two different notes make many different sound tones, plus harmonics Try it! Comment from : @Bob-yl9pm |
